1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

My friend welded it originally, he didn’t do a very good job because it was leaking all over. He can weld, but he’s more of an artistic welder than a functional welder.

So I tried my hand at it and laid 2 more beads and pressure tested it each time. Ground it down some and bondo’d it.

 

After seeing how I weld? Hell no. I’m paying a fab shop to TIG weld it for me.

 

So when's the first run with the supercharger? Looks like it's almost ready to go

 

These are my practice welds. Not very good. I would’ve preferred to use C25 and solid core wire, but my regulator was acting up so I need to go pick up a new one. I switched over to flux core wire.

 

I’m hoping today. Roommate who’s rebuilt a billion Subaru engines with forged internals is coming over to help.

I have most of it done so he’s just going to help me flush out the coolant and stuff.

You’d be surprised because it’s actually under pressure. I had to pressure test it three to four times because it kept leaking.

Pressure fittings are something I’d let a professional do in the future.

 

Huh yeah I didn't think about that. Well in any case it looks fine after getting cleaned up and painted lol. No one will be the wiser...except all of us

 

Biggest motivation to get it done is I need it to finish moving on Monday. The E320 and the Tesla can’t fit my bookshelf or my water cooler.

I know where he hides them. They’re by the police scanner and the solid metal coke bottle in his living room on the bookshelf.

I’m gonna weld that shit to the bumper when he isn’t looking.

 

Weld shop next to my dads shop.
They will probably mig it at any shop. Tig is way to much work for a bumper

 

That’s how Relentless does their bumpers, they’re TIG welded.
