thanks, most folks in the 1st gen forums are not walking in my shoes
they either live in a part of the country that doesn't deal with this winter stuff or their trucks are near toasted already and not deemed worthy of what I am contemplating on doing

my frame passed in 2o11, but my relatives used '98 did not so they got a nice 2o11 red single cab from the proceeds
they did not spray anything on my frame after it passed
I have had this since brand new and had the undercoating, chip guard, paint protections, etc. before I took it home
have worked my butt off to keep panels corrosion free (from experience as a teen)

the first piece I am getting taken care of is the lower shield on the fuel tank
    getting it clean and powdercoated
I can attach a before pic if interested to see what 22yrs of midwest weathering did

Theyll replace your frame in any state. The cold climate crap just determines if you get the crc (I think). Hell, @Sebz13 had his replaced and hes in hawaii.

from what I have been learning the 'warranties' are pure BS

either that or the municipalities need to be held liable for this disaster (imo of course)

:rofl:Its a 15+ year old truck. They gave us 15 years, why would they give any more? Had it been any other company, nothing wouldve been done.
Again, Toyota did what they could. When and if mine rusts out, It will be time to let it go. Its a pickup truck man, it aint gonna last forever, nor will I want to drive something from 2004 for the rest of my life.

And dont be one of those people who think they can file a lawsuit against a multi-billion dollar company and win. Especially over something regarding a model of truck that hasnt been made since 2004.

my truck is 50 per cent older than 15yrs! its almost a 1/4 century
perhaps they will again make compact trucks that I can reach to the middle of the bed, move stuff around, without the aide of a small step stool
the powdercoater told me it is highly unlikely anybody will make the compact truck again
and I am only talking about maybe $5 or $7 grand at this point to protect my truck until the wheels fall off, which I will then probably just put new wheels onit :D
i am very attached to my non-digital odometer, i need help and counseling

Toyota's are made to last forever, driven properly with proper maintenance and barring any unfortunate accident, or so I have been taught lol haHa

and i DO NOT have $50k+ for a big new Tacoma

A frame replacement costs the company around $12k, based on invoices Ive seen here. Why would they want to sink that sort of money into older vehicles that dont even carry that much resale value? Gotta remeber, Toyota is a $236 Billion dollar company, economics come before customer service with most any company these days, Toyota included.

my body shop guy said he could do a frame swap WITH a new frame for $7k or $8k ... the indie Toyota certified mechanic told me about $11k with new frame
I just wanna know if my frame is 0k enough to clean and properly treat good (to not have to worry about it) and that would cut out the cost of a $4k new frame, I can also get a salvaged one from west coast if need to be

the NADA book value for my truck is nearly $13k at the high end, it has only depreciated $9k from the MSRP I paid (not including all extras out the door)

Most were not worth the cost of frame replacement.
    Myself included!
Pretty sure your out of luck brother. I don’t think Toyota will help. Hope all checks out good for you!

thanks! i am seeing that perhaps the current frame replacement are total BS, if they fail again in a number of years

my truck was a very expensive truck in its day, they gave my relative more than $11k for something half as good as mine
i just feel i am swimming alone in my own lonely boat going in circles

is there a forum section here on TW for counseling/psychotherapy lol
    ...
thank you all for letting me babbble on and on and on
    its appreciated
