You have your opinion and that's it. You are dead set on installing these in a manner that Bilstein does not recommend. In the instructions from Bilstein, no where does it say" OK TO INSTALL A SPACER." Spacers were meant for people installing OME spring or the like that do not have any other way of making the driver side taller. In Bilsteins case they created a way to do that. Without need for spacer. This is all FACT.

The only assumption I have is why didn't bilstein create side specific shocks, one longer than other. Well, I feel it's because that would cost a hell of a lot more to create the machinery necessary to make 2 different shocks. In addition, people might accidentally order a pair of just one side. Also, like I am going through right now with damn 5160s, they might actually run out of one side, then no one gets shocks.

I think I may take the spacer out and give this a try.
I had thought about it and tossed the idea around in another thread. One guy had done it already and another advised against different notch settings.

It’s clear your understanding of lift kits and companies instructions on lift kits is limited.
They didn’t make side specific because as I stated above. SOME tacos have the lean, others don’t. So it would cause people without a lift to have one after that.
Secondly, the only different between the part numbers on the 5160s is the way the reservoir bolt mounts to the truck. The valving is exactly the same. No other differences.
And in terms of what Bilstein instructions say, again, is a recommendation, like most lifts, every aspect of someone’s lift can be different and have completely different “fixes” to get it right. Which is why, no matter how many instructions come with any lift, you always have guys coming in here confused or calling the vendor for info. Sometimes things just don’t work the way they should. Which is why Bilstein uses that notch difference as a way to correct lean

I assume the spacer is fine. I just like to follow manufacturer instructions. Read the instructions. It states to install 1 notch higher on driver side.

I have not run into any issues with it. But still have some lean.
Was going to give the rear a little love too. :p

Now id have to ask you the same question. Who told you that? Have you checked every Tacoma in America? Have you personally got down and measured the ones you’ve come across? Or are you going off what you read on Tacoma World in your basement?

The fuel tank. Battery and driver weight attribute to the taco lean. All 05+ tacos are heavier on driver side by design.

No one. I used my own brain. Fact is, fuel tank is on driver side, battery is on driver side. Those factors do not change from Tacoma to Tacoma.

Agreed yes, but it’s rather close minded to make the statement that ALL Tacoma’s have a lean because of it. I’ve literally seen a handful of completely stock Tacoma’s that were level. Seen with my own eyes, with actual measurements
