Yes, I follow the part that slides into the door with the spray tube

 

It’s called blaster penetrating oil,
I just use the plastic tube that connects to the top of the spray can
I’ll see if I can get a photo of the can I use

Yep, the black plastic piece needs to be removed. To remove, one of two choices -

1. Pry or pull it towards you or pry it up






This is the bolt which may have loosened slightly (on my 2002, it was fine - the lower hinge was a little loose) -





2. When replacing the plastic piece, slide it back into place -

 

is that part sold individually? (in case it breaks)
now I gotta hunt down a plastic or rubbertipped screwdriver

only squeaks when its hotter out, metal expanding/contracting somewhere?

 

don't stress - its fairly durable. I was using a regular screwdriver and just forcefully pried it upward from the side in the pic. Damn thing popped loose and flew. hahaha Should be fine.

 

alright, this is fast becoming a science experiment, developing a statistical model

i have determined that the 'squeak' has a direct correlation with climate change!

temps in the 90s last week (squeak,squeak) and now its back down to the 50s the past couple of days and the squeak has disappeared

i will have to wait for the humidity and warmer air to come back and try and troubleshoot again or perhaps start packing it up and head north

 

how long does this last? I might try this. silicone spray works for maybe a week.

fyi, this is NOT the first year this has ever happened
i had a squeaky clutch pedal once very very long time ago, I forget how that squeak was eliminated, haven't heard it in the longest time (I think that squeak happened during the winter but not sure anymore) I should take better care of it...

 

Replace it with a #70 spring, remove the old torsion spring. Problem solved

I used the needle attachment Oct 2018 and have no squeak to this day however, I live on Hawaii and the climate may play a role.

 

temperature here today is 68F (supposed to get into 80s later)
humidity is relatively high at 77% (had a big rainstorm overnight)

no noticeable squeak, but does sound like something is rubbing (when open/close door),
might just be the middle dsl arm bolt is loose from age
still undetermined...

there is a totalled taco at salvage yard near here, need to go and rip that dsl part out to see how it operates
