    Hi Folks!

I wanted to do this and since I found most of my info on these forums I though I should share the end result with you. I can't recover it now, but somebody wrote they bought one and it almost fit except for their tonneou mounting. Since I don't have one and the close fit sounded nice I gave it a try.

The box is from Amazon for $350. Rail t-nuts for $15 (pack of 5) and matching bolts for $5.
In the average garage the whole thing is doable in 30 min. I needed a hacksaw and a drill, it's not perfect but acceptable, I'm sure you can do a better job if you want to.

Bracket that comes with the kit. I marked the line for the cut (there are some overhangs on the other side of the top part) and the point for the hole. The hole would be better at least 1/2" lower (maybe more) so that the box is higher and it's not that snug against the wheel well.

Cut, drilled with the t-nut and bolt.

    In the rail.

    The box mounted.

From the side. It sits an inch or so below the side of the bed. It could be raised this much by drilling the hole in the bracket lower. I don't know how tonneaus are mounted but I'm guessing this wouldn't be compatible with them anyway.

    Open.

Space under it. As you can see it kinda sits on the wheel well which is not to my liking but it's ok for now. I might make entirely new mounting brackets if I have time.

Maybe it gives an idea to some of you.
    Cheers!

Nice! Can you post the model number of the box?

I would love to replace my 20 year old deezee box I have now.

I'm not 100% sure but I think they only have one model of the box itself. It might be packaged with different mounting hardware that I have not used. There is a separate hardware kit for the Tundra that fits the Tacoma rail as well but it makes the whole mounting structure too wide for it.
You can check the manual for how it's intended to be mounted and compare it to this mod.

Thanks for this helpful post OP! I’m looking to do the exact same (with the exception of making it higher 1/2”) but a couple questions,

where did you get the rail T nuts and bolts?

and what are your measurements for the cuts? TIA!
(Also sorry for the super late reply, I know this is a 3 year old post :))
