I am trying to repair the gas door on my Tacoma and have a good idea as to what I need to do and what parts I need. However, there is 1 part I cannot seem to find and it doesn't come up in any of the how-to threads either. At least not that I've seen.

I am missing this piece in the plastic part surrounding the gas inlet. It is a missing knob that allows the piece in the next picture to attach to it to secure the door closed.

This piece attaches to this^ piece.

I found this part online but it is the entire assembly surrounding the gas inlet tube. I just need the tiny missing piece that fits inside the assembly.

Is there a way to order the little nub by itself or do I need the entire assembly? Has anyone had to fix this part before?

Maybe check the part list for the fender?

That's what I was getting at... If I need this entire thing or if I can buy the little nub thingy somewhere by itself.

my son's 06 was missing it. Couldn't find the part number anywhere on-line. Took it to the dealer and he drove off with it installed and $6 poorer.

I just ordered the entire assembly. $25 is cheaper for me than wasting a half a day at the dealership.

It took him 10 minutes. Picked it up from the parts desk and put it in himself.

I think I recall someone else loosing that nub and couldn't find one, and ended up using those 2 sided Velcro pieces u can stick on instead of buying the shield piece.
