Let's get a drink together and talk Mavs. Seriously. I could talk them for hours - especially Dirk.

    My daughters are in, too.:D

That's awesome! We definitely need to organize a meet with our whiskey group here. Several of us are in Texas and quite a few being in/from DFW. I'm always down for a trip back home!

This thread is too quiet for it being World Whiskey Day!

What's everyone going to drink to celebrate? I plan on Old Forester 1920 for the better part of the evening while I'm cooking. I have a buddy that is going to try to come over If he can make it, then we'll be drinking Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year together for a pour or two.

On another note, here is a pic of some of the bottles my brother and I have acquired recently. We are in a group that plays for bottles and have been on a nice little run. Still have a Blanton's Straight From the Barrel on the way to go with the Gold, as well as a Caribou Crossing.

You like what you like and you like it how you like it. No flogging here. I'd try in this order:

    1. Neat
    2. With a drop or two of water
    3. With an ice cube or splash of water
    4. In a cocktail (Old Fashion, Whiskey Sour, Manhattan, Godfather, etc.)
    5. In a mixed drink (i.e. with Coke)

That's in order of how much of the raw whiskey flavor you'll get to experience. They aren't all winners by themselves. Sometimes they shine in a supporting role in a cocktail. Others just make your Coke have a whiskey flavor and help get you drunk ;). A place for all of them.

This is why I love this group of whiskey drinkers. Cheers, gents!

Happy World Whiskey Day! I have to pick up my wife from the airport later so I can only have a few small drams.

I think these will make up my celebration flight.

I meant to buy a 2019 release of Booker's, but brain farted it and opened my 2016-06 bottle. I did like it. Then had a pour of Baker's, OWA 107, Eagle Rare, that's all I can remember. Had some friends over for a fire pit and switched over to one of their homebrews, a single mash citrus hopped beer that we've dubbed "Smash and dash" after a friend's conquest the night we first brewed it lol.
