Alright...so far, the things i know about the next taco are this....

    I want double cab
    I want 4X4
    I want automatic

Now....when its gets to the trd, trd sport, sr5, sr5trd, sr5trd sport...you guys get my drift.

Im 24, married (no kids yet) I plan on putting 3-6 inches of lift in the future, and probably some new wheels and tires. My wheeling will be ameture. nothing hardcore, but this will also be my daily driver. I LIKE the hood scoop, but thats just me.

Anybody know which model i should go with?:confused::confused:

SR5 all day if you plan on doing that. You may have to consider an aftermarket locker though. However, the cost of the locker may be less than the TRD Off-Road package.

DC SR5 then add you lift and tires and locker. No sense to pay for a trd pkg if you swap out the suspension and rims/tires right off the bat. Unless you like the seats better. IMO.

Go on Toyota's website and do some serious research on the model differences.

    You'll find:
    Base
    SR5
    TRD Sport
    TRD Off Road

All available in 4x4 or 2x4

They are all basically the same truck. With the differences being suspention...wheels...body differences (paint/chrome/black) and interior differences.

I got SR5 because I found a truck in a unique color I liked (Pyrite Mica) and really don't need the other suspention...wheels...and painted body parts.

However...I would like to have the bluetooth...compass/temp that comes with the TRD models. The seats are not a biggie to me. Matter of fact I kinda like how the SR5 passenger seat folds flat (the TRD does not)

If you HAVE to have the hood w/ scoop...get the TRD Sport 4x4. But, you may be paying for equipment that you'll never use...just to get the fake hood scoop.

Research is your key. Read as many threads here as you can...you will learn plenty, along with Toyota's site.

    Good luck.

Ive been building trucks on the Toyota website incase my 1stgen fails the fram test appointment on Tuesday and it seems the other packages just arent worth it to just get the sr5 package because from their i would lift and get some new wheels/tires right off the bat

It all depends on what you want man. Wheeling a locker can be invaluable... but you can add an ARB air locker later if you do get into it more.

If you like the color matched panels and fake hood scoop and the TRD options (seats, compass, factory bed outlet, ect) then consider the TRD Sport. The Off-Road has the basic stuff (seats, outlet, compass) but has the offroad traction control functional stuff (locker, a-trac, DAC, ect) which makes it an absolute beast even stock off road. Downside is, you get a chrome grill, chrome bumper, and flat black trim minus the fenders which are still color matched.

Also both TRD packages have TRD rims, sport has a 17" style, off-road has a 16" style. All stock tires (sr5, trd sport, trd off-road) suck ass.

I'd just go to a dealer, check them out in person, check the TRD vs non TRD seats out, and go from there. Up to you if the cost is worth it. Also if you're a USAA member, be sure to check out the car buying services. I got $750 below dealer invoice on my '10.

Summery: SR5 if you want to pay and customize everything to your liking. TRD Off-Road for true off-road maximum ability off the lot. TRD Sport if you want anesthetics over function.

This is incorrect information. You can get the TRD off road in a double cab. you just cant get the off road in a long bed.

So the TRD Sport would put you to sleep? Just messin with ya.

What he said, though. If you have the money to burn and want a LB, get a sport, SB, get a OR. If you want to save some dough, go for SR5

    Skistoy,

Have you measure the amount of lift you got out of your setup?
