Have em, love em. They've been stellar, just moderately loud and ride bad like most of the options at this size. It is an E load range tire after all.

So any wider aftermarket wheel, or a wheel spacer, would induce rubbing on the fenders, but not the cab mount right? I can do fender heat gun molding and dremel trimming no problem, but would rather not cmc. Does anyone have 255/85/16 that stick out a little past stock?

I have Toyo m55 255/85r16 on 16x8 0 offset and after a great alignment I don't rub anywhere, even flexing off road. I have the 1.75" TRD PRO (2015) lift.

I have stock OR wheels and 255 ST Maxx tires and I thought I was completely clear, but I have been in a few situations where i rub slightly on the liner. It's really light and happens only in the perfect partial turn mixed with some flex. It's not enough or often enough that I've done anything about it yet.

Those are a good looking tire. I almost went that way too. I'm trying out the milestar Patagonias in 33s for my Bronco now. They arrive tomorrow. I still have some work to do though. Just finished the rear axle and moving to the 44. TrueTracs going in front and rear.

No complaints, you definitely notice a difference in noise levels coming from stick tires. But that is expected. I've had the tires down to single digits psi in the snow and it helped me out.

no one will ever be able convince me that these tires shouldn't have come stock on these trucks...only had them put on this morning but put a few miles on them today and took them up one of the more sketchy trails I know of in the area, a long rocky rutted trail with a few sketchy spots, and I definitely made the right choice these things are awesome!!!

EDIT: zero rubbing, no gear hunting on the highway, barely notice the acceleration/deceleration difference ( I also drive like a grandpa so there's that) oh and just for shits and grins I pulled my sway bar and am liking that to

Here’s my 255/85/16 journey in a big pic dump. Spoiler: no rub at the front or rear of wheel wells. Stock TRD OR suspension and wheels.

The ONLY place the tires rub is actually inside the top of the fender liner (lol). You only achieve that by hitting hidden whoops going a tad quicker than the suspension can react. No rubbing in front or rear of wheel well. Not even in reverse and turning for me.

    They look great!
    Did you consider the km3's?
...the 3's look a little less aggressive and better rain.

Did you buy them from discount tire & what did the cost?
...I've been wanting to do this, your pix are inspiring, as long as I can sell the wranglers for something!

I didn’t consider them because I got the KM2s for 175 a piece OTD on eBay. It was the cheapest way to get into this size. I did some reading and it looks like they improved a whole lot on the KM3s, but next set of tires will probably be more along the lines of an AT tire like the ST Maxx.

I think I got $270-280 for my used Wranglers.

Gotcha. I’d do the same if I can get that kind of deal, especially selling the oem tires.

I’ve never ordered tires online, was it easy to find someone to mount them and what’d they charge for that?

You mentioned coopers next, are you going to stay with that size?

eBay and occasionally Amazon usually has good deals, that deal may still be there.

I just take the tires to discount tire, I think it was something like 20 bucks per tire mount and balance.

They sincerely thought it wasn’t gonna fit so they mounted one tire first and did a lock to lock test. They heard the power steering hit the end point and thought it was the tire hitting the frame lol. Overall great experience, in and out under an hour, they fix nails for free if repairable, and offer an awesome road hazard warranty.

Here’s where the minor scrub happens if you bottom the front suspension. This is looking forward into the front wheel well, just grazes the ridge.

Good to know. I would have thought they’d charge more and be pissed to mount someone else’s tires.

I’m surprised that they offer road hazard on something they didn’t sell.

If I can get a deal like that I’ll go for it. When I was looking at prices the bfg’s were around $250 each.

Looks like they’ve gone up a little in price. That same seller also sells them individually.

Cool, I’ll definitely check it out and see if the big-o near me mount them.

Anyone have any experience with the st/Maxx 255/85/16 on soft sand?? I do a decent amount of beach driving and sand can vary from hard pack to soft. I don’t mind airing down just curios. Thanks

From my experiences with my Coursers and stock tires the tire itself seems pretty inconsequential, MT's or road tires behave damned similar, you just gotta air down a lot. I go down to 8-10psi and keep the speedy turns to a minimum.
