I have submitted this for peer review by the American Journal of Psychology. Just a heads-up.....pick out a tie....you might be in line for a Nobel prize.

IMO Toyota jumped the shark with the 3Rd gen. If I sold 78K trucks in a quarter I would do very little to change the winning combination. There were many Tacoma fans who did not like the 2016 redesign, Los of complaints but Toyota is selling them as fast as they make them.

Most buyers of the new Ranger are "Ford guys" Not as many Tacoma converts. I like all the new tech and driving a luxury street truck. For me, the Ranger Lariat was enough to say goodbye to Toyota for this buying cycle. The drivetrain is magical and inside has all the latest tech. LEDs all around. power tailgate....Lots of little and big things that make a difference to me.

Looking forward to seeing what Tacoma puts on the streets in 2026. Seems every 10 years a new design.

My 1983 JVC ghetto blaster had LEDs.

I don’t understand why people make such a big deal over LEDs. It’s something to get the peasants excited I suppose.

OVTune, CAI, Magnaflow, Nitrogen tires, Seafoam, 94 Octane. I get in the low 6’s in my Suzuki Carry.

Mostly I think it’s the intake.

I would watch these races. Nothing more entertaining than participants white-knuckling, going BALLS TO THE WALL at 35 mph.

Very. Plus I’d feel a little more loose hucking a 24k truck than a 36k trimmed out truck.

I guess that's why I'm happy as a clam with mine. I knew it didn't have a powerhouse of an engine. Don't care, don't NEED one. Wants are different than needs. What I needed was rock solid dependability over the long term. Was willing to sacrifice some HP/TQ and fuel efficiency to get that.

Before purchasing I deeply evaluated my actual needs. I found that I no longer need a full-size. I'm no longer 23 years old. I don't really care about 0-60 or quarter mile times. I grew out of the want to impress anyone with a material item.

I guess I fall into Mike Sweers typical customer segment. I need a durable, reliable, handy all terrain smaller sized vehicle that can pull a smaller sized boat, haul a few bales of hay, drive up the muddy farm lane to the hunting property and haul the dead deer out. Other folks in Sweers typical customer segment have different yet similar needs. A handy reliable all purpose utility pickup. Not a HD hauler/tow. Not a hot rod. Not a luxury pseudo truck. Not a mpg champion. Just a reliable, durable handy little truck. Sweers and Toyota nailed it.

Did someone say 30MPG? I'll take it.

I'll take a little more juice to pull my 16ft aluminum boat up hill. We all want nice things don't we?

Somewhere on this forum I said (if I win the super lottery, though I don’t even play so who cares) I was going to buy up all of the local raptors, situate them on a lot, and let homeless people fuck in them and live in them.
