JustDSM tune. I think it has the VVTI update too. I left it up to him.

    Questions:

    1) I currently have the OVTune 91 octane...do I need to revert it back to stock?

    2) On the HPTune product page...what is needed? I know I should read 145 pages and didn’t...help a TW member out.

    3) Do I need the Universal Credits? If so how many?

Truck is 2014 Auto NA all stock.

    Thanks in Advance

This is what you need, The MPVI2 and 4 universal credits. This is all packaged by Hinson Performance, comes VERY quick, at a slight discount, with credits already applied to the tuner. The process was STUPID easy.

If you have the handheld it would be best to flash it to stock first, otherwise the handheld will inoperable.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Not necessarily true. I had your handheld and flashed backed to stock and also erased the handheld before shipping it off. The guy I sold it to is shipping it back to you to see if you can figure it out. Sooooooo, the jury is still out, but thanks for the help in getting it sorted. @ToyotaBurrito

To continue on the following post of mine

I did some more testing today with regards to ACIS functions at less than WOT.

Overall takeaways.... even with a stepped throttle mapping (so i didnt have to flash seperate 25% throttle at WOT pedal and 50% WOT pedal) it was hard to get the smaller 25% step consistently, I was able to do ~33% but minimal %age changes yielded radical maf number changes at those low throttle openings. But after some exponential smoothing of data you can see VERY similar trends to WOT, a tipping point of around 4100ish RPMs is where you need to go back to short intake runners for top end airflow efficiency and ~ 10ish% more MAF numbers in the mid range rpms. Needless to say ACIS does its job.

Now, acis tuning. I dont know if id go as far as say what JustDSM did and have it always on in the medium rpm range, mainly for 2 reasons, 1. acis solenoid life (the lil solenoid will spend A LOT more time energized), but mainly for #2, will it stay open? is there enough vacuum source to always hold it open regardless of throttle position in the medium rpm range?

Also, how will having acis ON (increasing MAF airflow) at a cruising speed of 2200rpms (~70mph) affect MPGs?

SO MANY QUESTIONS, SO LITTLE TIME TO TEST!

For now I am going to leave ACIS settings stock (i might move the point of "high tps" down to ~40% from 60 at a later date) and continue my auto trans shiftpoint playing.

Playing with my new GoPro today. Made a quick vid of an acceleration from a stop. Nothing crazy. May have to turn it up to hear the shifts.

Very nice write up @nd4spdbh. In regards to your question of the ACIS having enough vacuum to stay open through the entire midrange as @JustDSM has it, I have a vacuum gauge installed between the vacuum port and solenoid and it never looses vacuum once ACIS turns on.

Just finishing up going over some logs I did with @JustDSM tuning and comparing them to a log from his truck he sent me. I’m playing catch up with gas burners to most of you guys and I think I’m finally getting a grasp on some of what y’all are talking about lol. Y’all keep up the good work for me to steal!

Good to know! I know the vacuum source comes from what looks like an appendage on the inside curve of the intake plenum (aka surge tank), wasnt sure if it has a one way vacuum valve inside to hold vacuum during times of low vacuum.

Yeah, first time my wife rode with me she started making this Bapp, Bapp sound. All she knew was that I had worked with my mechanic to "fix the shifting" on the Tacoma.
