Starting getting the donor apart, doesn't look like much :rofl:but alot of wires and hoses got disconnected. Pulled the timing cover when I realized I could reach the wires when I pulled the intake oh well :notsure:

So found some more Camrys in the Merced pick n pull, I found the VIN code for the 3vz fe it's V as the 4th character. Two of them have a V as the fourth but the VIN just seems weird, whether they left out the 1st character that doesn't matter to the VIN decode or added an extra, I don't know. But the ones I looked at today didn't have it anywhere in the VIN so it seems promising

    Guess Modesto just blows

Spoke to LCE today, they have confirmed that these cams are going to work :yay:
However they were not able to confirm which cam gears to use.
And as far as making sure the timing is correct. When I go to take apart my engine I'm going to take the stock cams out and eyeball the 3vz cams in the same position and hope the marks are very close to lining up:notsure:

@RedManRocket this looks like a super fun project, I'll be keeping an eye on your progress! As to your question, you'll want the kit that goes with the year of the hood, so if you're putting on an '01-04 hood, you'll need the late 1st Gen kit, despite the early 1st Gen inner fenders.

Ping me if you want to discuss further, and let me know when you're ready to get a strut kit, I'll make you a killer deal since you're a repeat customer

Lce told me they had no clue when I asked a few years ago. Apparently they’ve done some testing.

Must've, I talked to Tony. He said going to lose a little low end torque (obviously) and pistons, 3vz Fe crank, head studs, and valve train upgrade should be plenty

Hey @Brice I remember reading you did a "custom" kit from cx, what pieces did you end up not getting out of the kit besides the wastegate and bov?
