Actually engine swaps are totally doable here. Not a simple trip to the DMV by any means, but a trip to the CA Bureau of Automotive Repair. You need to demonstrate it still has all the emissions equipment, and there are some rules like you can’t mix truck and car engines and you just use the same year or newer drivetrain.

If you pass all that criteria they issue you a new VIN plate and you can take that and the CA BAR paperwork to the DMV like a normal car.

However this guy doesn’t seem to be advertising it has been inspected by the CA BAR, so I doubt it’s gone through that process.

I thought it had to be the same age or newer and only if it was offered in that model vehicle in order to be legal?

 

Why not just look in the engine bay, it didn't evaporate

The rule is same year or newer, model doesn’t matter. Just as long as you don’t mix car and truck engines.

 

I just think you didn't try hard enough.

 

Have you never lost a fastener in the engine bay and never seen it again? Sometimes they’re in places you can’t see.

I’ll look some more later otherwise I’m buying one from toyota.

 

You don't have your skid pan on and the only thing that can catch it on that side is the starter or the wiring harness. I've lost many things in the v of engines but this one is hard to lose stuff in.

 

It’s caught on something, I never heard it fall to the ground.

 

Get Miguel and his tiny feminine hands to fish it out then, or just shake the truck a bit. Hell pole around with a magnet sometimes works

Called Toyota, closest banjo bolt is in Vallejo. Hell naw.

 

just steal one from the mercedes' brake calipers.

 

Is it a special kind of banjo bolt? I know the local auto parts stores sell banjo bolts around here unless it's specific to the Toyota fuel line.

 

There's a few different ones, PepBoys didn't have it. I'll keep looking.

 

Think the E320 uses Hard Flared lines like the Tundra.

I'll probably steal one from the 5-Lug and order a replacement for it.
