Lift height and bumper suggestions

Whats up Team!

Just bought a new Tacoma and am looking for advice regarding a potential lift / suspension / and larger tires.

Couple questions: For a functional lift do you recommend a 3" , 4" or 6" ? Pros and Cons? I will be pulling a small trailer. Probably weights 1000 lbs.

-Who makes a solid bumper? Ive checked out the ARB Summit. Looks pretty solid. Thoughts?

Anything bigger than 3" require an ifs relocation kits and potentially new spindles as well so its a big increase in cost over 3".

I think the frame also needs to be cut, someone can correct me on this. But that'll void your warranty 100%.

Your 2018 will need to have the collision detection system readjusted by the dealer no matter what you do cause the detection angle changes.

You will feel a loss of power for any tires size increase above 32", try to keep the tire weight light. Your options to fix this are to change the gear ratio, 4.88 is common for auto's. People seem to say it feels stock again up to 33". Above 33" you will want 5.29's.

If your towing i suggest a gear change if your going up in tire size. It will reduce gear hunting immensely.

Functional? Leave it stock height with some high end suspension and 265's.

 

Its not, ive been through 18" ish deep river in a bone stock off-road and got through just fine. Find some good tires for the stuff you do 90% of the time and spend money on recovery equipment for the other 10%.

A 2" Old man Emu lift with upgraded front springs for the bumper would be enough for 60-75% of the guys who ask the same question you did. Alot of the 40-25% it isn't good enough for, need it for desert running or want something shiny on their rig to show off.

 

What tires do you recommend?

 

The big thing is weight. Initially i had cooper stt pros on mine, cause I loved the snow performance but they ended up being too heavy. If I had been able to keep my truck i would have upgraded to 4.88 gears and it probably would have been fine.

I recently got some skinny wrangler duratracs for my wifes 4runner and have been very happy with them. They look meaty but aren't overly wide and the off road performance has been great. Not awesome in mud, but snow and trails have been good. Bonus is they're light and even though the skinnys are 2" taller than stock, they cost the same as duratracs in stock size, and are only 1lb or 2 heavier. What size are your rims 16"?
