They're awesome for sure. Definitely made quick work of the aluminum. Best $12 I spent in a while for sure.

BAMF hangar install coming in the next few weeks (POTENTIALLY June 8th or 9th)

Been hanging around the TW thread for the mod (glad I did) and learned a few things:

- The Dakars rub on the shackles as noted below:

- second, crossbracing. While I enjoy Jerry's kit, I wanted to beef up the rear (alongside the frame plating and bracing) with a cross brace for the hangers like the Archive kit. Knowing full well that Jerry is planning on "eventually" making a cross brace kit, however, I hope to install the shortly afterwards; need to install and then mock everything up for the welder. I purchased the plates from a TW member here (not sure he wants a shoutout, but not hard to find ) and they shipped today. I also ordered some more 1.75 OD x .120 wall A513 HREW Round Steel Tube in a 3' section (after confirmation from the aforementioned TW member) for the cross brace.

Plans for this weekend:

- winch sack install
- clean and coat rear window with Adam's kit
- clean up and start painting spindles
- install swingout; 2 trips next month (June 2nd and June 15 and/or 16th)
- finish up the tailgate support mod (?)

Rain predicted ALL weekend but that's why I bought a house with a garage I can fit into!!

You could def tell when the 45xx class trucks came through. The V6s don't sound anywhere near as mean as the unlimiteds.

Hey, I had a light mounted over the hood in my garage and it's great when the garage door is closed but with the door up you will want to kick yourself in the ass. I would mount it in the middle between both bays. That's where I moved mine.

 

Some sucker would buy a super 10 expecting it to sound like that..good advertisement there!

Thanks! That's what I thought of doing. Spanning it width wise in the center to get as much of each bay as it can. Tacoma has hood lights if I ever need it and I have a retractable work light that I can hang if needed. If I want to ball out, I can grab one of these always:

I bought them from Costco.

When I put my sliders on I ran outta day light so I used it under the truck. It's LED so no worry about breaking bulbs and is a little cheaper than that work light you found.



If you bought these and hug them from little chains in the garage you can always pull them down for portable lighting because they just plug in like a lamp. I bought 5 and have two extra so I use them wherever I need portable light around the house. I stopped using my halogen work lights. The LEDs are much softer on the eyes, and the whiter light is better too.

I might pick up one or two myself. I need to tweak the lighting in the workshop/shed behind the main bay area in the garage. Those look like they will work great. Fence project starts next Thursday and then we can work on getting the shed setup and situated. Then, I can clear out my workshop, setup my workbench and shed/shop. Pretty much using the tailgate of the Tacoma as my bench right now haha

 

Sounds like a hell of a plan! The good thing about those lights is, you can daisy chain them, you only need to plug the first one in.

I need to empty mine one day, so I can only put back the things I need or use. I have those metal Gladiator brand cabinets in boxes waiting to become a real area. I have all the pieces of the puzzle, they are just scattered about. I have a bunch of crap I need to get rid of. Like a wood burning stove, and bunch of other crap.

It took me 17 years but the garage eventually turned into a disaster. I can get one vehicle in but want them both in there.

That was the joy of moving. I got rid of so much crap I didn't need or use anymore. I really enjoy shop design and configuring everything to fit my needs. It was nice to start with a fresh, clean slate and just do it as I go. Go through everything throw away what I don't need and force me to keep only things I absolutely need. The wife enjoyed it too because she says I have too much shit

It is definitely nice to be able to park in the garage during inclement weather. I would say that I am already spoiled simply because I need to move my bike to the house still and I have been reluctant to do so since it will have to sit in the bay until we get a shed. But, I keep telling myself the weather is shit (which it is). Haha.

 

Well, I can't wait to see how it all comes together for you. Maybe I will steal some ideas. I finally bought a cheap bench grinder off of craigs list a couple weeks ago to sharpen my mower blades. Paid $15 for it, nothing fancy but it has dual lights. Then I found a 25% off coupon from HF so I bought a stand. I plan on setting that up this weekend. I also have an old ass Pioneer Elite receiver I want to add some speakers to so I can have some decent tunes out there. Right now I use a 1980's cassette player with blown 4" speakers. I do have a full size fridge though. Need to have ice cold libations ready at all times. Oh, and maybe look at a white board. Then you can list your mods, etc. All this talk is giving me the incentive to make some more progress on mine since I am off for the next 4 days.
