Yes! Innovation is the best! Send me a PM or something next time you go that way and we can work out logistics. I would be forever grateful!!

I was there in November with my wife while we were on a camping trip, just kinda winging it night to night. Randomly walked into Innovation and were openly greeted as visitors by all of the locals (it was a Tuesday night) so not many people in there. Everyone definitely knew each other and knew we hadn’t been there before. Started talking to one guy (Name is Craig, if you go there often I’m guessing you know him) and he offered to buy us beers. We continued talking to him and he continued buying us beer, he probably bought us 6-8 beers and refused to let us pay him back. We were planning on having one beer and ended up staying for close to 5 hours. The bartender was awesome, everyone was awesome. They really like to talk about the full eclipse though....

The session IPA was probably my favorite and my wife was all about the afternoon delight blonde.

Posted this in the wrong thread. Lol
    --------------

Had a great time with my son. Explored some side trails and had lunch on the shores of lake jocassee. To top it off made it up a little loop trail next to the iron bridge that a cherokee on 35s couldn't. Dude couldn't drive for shit. Lmao

    Couple pics

Hey, how did that truck get here.
Camp ground at the top of crossroads mnt.
This trail started going steep down hill, probably went to the power lines.
This one did go to one power line tower

New gate that will close auger hole Rd. Will still be able to get to crossroads
Land slide that shut down the road

    End of the road
Stopped on side of white water rd. Climbed a short Rocky trail for this sweet pic of white water falls

Nice! Happy to see you made it out there! Were those side trails the ones off crossroad mountain? I didn't have time to explore them last time.

Was looking on Google maps and found another bridge down stream of the iron one. Still in NC, but another way across. Maybe a gate opens to get there during hunting season.

    This is the iron bridge

This is the other bridge, right before the the river gets to jocassee

Yes, the one that got steep is in SC the one that went to the power tower is NC right at the border.

That second bridge is for the Foothills trail. Probably only made for foot traffic

Your right, lol. Looking at it, it's lots longer and narrower than the iron bridge.

I grew up going to school in Cashiers near that area but have never been here. Would love to get up with someone who has and take a drive through sometime.
    Picture for attention.

Last I heard from the Jeep community was it's closed at the bridge. (Whitewater)?
There's still some good trail riding until you get to the bridge though.

How long of a ride would you say it is in the area, with and without the bridge closed? I will actually have off next Friday, 6/7, and may try to ride that day if anyone else would be interested in going.

Straight down and back, 1.5 hours if you take it easy and enjoy the area. Take some side roads and you can kill a half day or more.

Honestly, I can't remember how long it took us to get to the bridge. Wasn't really paying attention.

I'd like to take the Jeep up there for a day of exploring. Probably have a ton more fun than I did with the prerunner. But it certainly was a great ride.

If I can make it work I may try to ride around Friday 6/7 and since I'm in the area stick around and ride again on 6/8. Try riding a few other areas while I'm there.

For the areas you were able to go, would you say they're pretty 2WD friendly? My roommate has a 2WD F150 but he loves to bring it out wherever he can.

I definitely wouldn't attempt all the way down to the lake in 2WD. It's steep, narrow, and rutted in places. Could probably go partially down that route. He'll definitely end up with some scratches if that's something he's worried about. He shouldn't have any problems going to the river.
