Frankly, that "crap holders" are so unstable for holding anything besides half filled cup of cold drink. In my even more ghetto solution (before the suction cup) I leaned the phone over half opened cup holders but at any bump the phone landed on the floor.

I have cup-holder type (similar to this above) that I used in 4Runner (before I got ProClip USA), and it required a lot of effort to make it stay in 4Runner cup holder without shaking the phone to death. And 4Runner has the real "deep hole" style cup holders, not a "CD-drive" type like my 95.5 Tacoma has. Based on that experience I suspect that the product above would not work in there.

Another +1 for the ProClip mount. I use it daily and it’s awesome.

I never understand how do you put that phone in your pocket? Is that ball socket removable?

I leave the ball socket on my phone it’s not that big of a deal putting it in my pocket

I do have an open face cover on my phone so I can just take the cover off

That pretty much looks like the setup I’d like to run in my 04 DC. Where did you get the wireless charger base?

IMG_20190424_121655.jpg IMG_20190424_121550.jpgHere are some better pictures of my setup, I've tried many different options and so far this is the best imo, I cut an aluminum plate and put it in the back of the switch with a nut on it, a ram ball on the other side and a magnetic mount, works perfectly and the angle is easily adjustable not fixed in one position

for those of you with the airbag cutoff switch, i was able to cut down the scosche mount and mount it to the upper portion of the switch area. i can still use the cutoff too. i'll let you know how this holds up given that i removed half of the adhesive area. this location just seemed best to me.

Is the proclip mount supposed to push against the back of the climate control panel? Mine seems like it puts a lot of tension against the back of it and would pop it out or crack it. $30 is pretty steep for one of these mounts if I’m honest...

I've been using a Mob Armor mount I bought at 4WP for about a year now, and i dig it. It has to mount to a flat surface which is kind of a pain, but since your phone is held in by a "claw" and not just a magnet it won't go flying off the dash when you hit a bump on the road or go wheeling.
The magnet that actually holds the mount to the dash is very very strong too. I don't think its possible to jar the mount off the dash unless you try and reenact a scene from Dukes of Hazzard.
