Under the cab is much less bad. Surface rust, but not on all of it, and far less flaky paint.

I've crawled under mine enough to know its not super bad (and it didn't break in half when I pulled a trailer). But on the other hand, pulling the bed seemed like the only way to get it clean and come up with a game plan on how to reinforce and keep it from getting worse.

And maybe change the fuel pump while I'm in there ...

Just make sure you get all the rust off first. And then look at the frame with our trucks they like to attract rust really fast, coming from a guy in socal shaha

Well, moment of truth. I finally finished installing the supercharger, sans gauges and methanol injection for now just to get it running.

    8E0576BF-059D-4379-9D03-79CAA0F7429E.jpg

I disengaged the parking brake and put it into Neutral so I could push it into the driveway so I didn’t kill who lives behind my garage.

I started cranking it, and cranking it, and cranking it, and then it started to sputter, but wouldn’t idle. It really wanted to start but it didn’t.

Then I go outside and I immediately smell gas and I see this major fuel leak:

    79C420BD-6342-41E9-9734-98B8501DFE02.jpg

It appears to be Injector 3 and 4. 3 has a little moisture, and 4 seems shiny. Hard to tell if it’s really fuel because I can’t physically poke my finger down there. I felt around on all the fuel filter banjo fittings and the banjo fitting on the fuel rail but they were dry. The puddle is definitely gas.

Looks like it’s a pinched O-Ring. Boy I’ve fought that fuel rail for three days now.

Hope I got to you early enough. I rebuilt mine a few years back, can't find the link but a $10 kit will do it. Fuck the dealer for that.

    https://www.amazon.com/STARTER-SOLENOID-REPAIR-Contact-Plunger/dp/B00DQ9V5Z6

I can't find the one I got on Amazon years ago but plenty of cheap rebuild kits out there.

Took my camper top off yesterday, hopefully gonna paint it over the summer to match my truck. Today washed it and had the windshield retinted from 45% to clear but IR film to block out the heat. I liked the look of the darker windshield but was always scared of getting ticket, planned on getting the clear to start with but the guy at the tint place talked me into the 45%. Fortunately it was replaced under warranty since they trapped a bunch of dust in the film last time. 409F4F4C-4B69-4A88-B365-70CB389C6D0D.jpg

Wheels and tires went on today along with alignment post-lift install. Decided to give Firestone a shot since they do lifetime instead of the other recommended shop. Alignment numbers below (told you that front drivers wheel was way off) how’d they do?

All in all I'm pretty happy. It's definitely not 100% good, but the last picture shows the worst damage I found. The frame itself seems pretty solid, I didn't blow any holes through it with the pressure washer. I suspect its probably thin in places since they rust from the inside out, but there's probably enough left to weld to. The plan for now is to rust treat it, put the bed back on and drive it. I'll circle back around to it later in the summer and probably safe-t-cap it.

Crazy how our environments influence this sort of thing...if I were holding pieces of my frame like that, I'd probably be in tears lol.

*Clearly* all of these extra pieces were unnecessary, and its just going to be lighter and faster now.:plane:

If for some reason I came across a compatible frame and I had the time/money to swap, I probably would. I grew up here in Texas and rust is very much uncommon, unless you live on the beach.

Looks good, you could probably ask for more caster since you have aftermarket UCAs
