Oh yeah, that shit show is nothing new. Although a blind guy suing websites is rather interesting. There is plenty of software out there that translates text to speech, but that's not really the responsibility of the website. Doesn't mean people won't sue though.

There are actually some relatively new laws that restrict ADA lawsuits. At least in CA, there was a particular lawyer (not disabled) who was going around to every business he could find, and essentially going all mob tactics on them and threatening lawsuits costing millions if they didn't settle with him. It was for all sorts of ridiculous things, like having braille at shooting ranges or a ramp being 1 degree off of technical compliance. Not sure if it was a state or fed law, but it was changed so that you actually had to be the disabled person trying to gain access to the establishment in order to sue.

Interesting, I don't know much about the situation here at work but I did hear that it was a "blind citizen" that was suing...and maybe he's doing it for some organization that's behind him and using him to get the lawsuit going. Company owner just pulled the plug on the website though since he wasn't happy with it anyway, we're relaunching it this summer (supposedly) under the "protection" of almighty Amazon. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em

Yeah, that lawyer I was talking about I think just recruited some disabled people. It may have slowed him down, but didn't stop him.

Sorry about your truck. Glad there were no injuries. We all know how much work you've put into it. Good luck on whatever you decide.

This might help explain it -
    https://chemicalwatch.com/70559/us-retail-giant-stops-selling-into-california-because-of-prop-65

Either way, whatever. There are enough vendors out there I can go to if someone doesn't want to sell a specific product to me. I get why some people are upset/frustrated/angry but in the end its the company who doesn't want to do business, their loss :notsure:

It sort of is and it sort of isn't. Lots of product stocked by Rock Auto could be over 6 years old just sitting in a warehouse. It would be a real PITA to slip in a useless card and get approval just to service someone in CA for a $15 part. Every law that state introduces somehow managed to make it tougher and more expensive to live there without improving quality of life as of late.

Out of curiosity, I went to rockauto myself so see what the deal is. What's funny is I ordered a blower motor for my truck from them a couple years ago, and some balljoints a few years before that. I looked at the blower motor and it is telling me the same thing that @eon_blue was getting about his fenders, but other brands of motors are fine. The moog balljoints I used to have seem to be fine too, and the warning did not show up.

I looked at a few other random things and most seemed to be fine (no restriction for shipping to CA).

Seems like their lawyers are being a little too careful with the CYA. I bet some are trying to "send a message" to the liberal elites in Sacramento about this restrictive new law (that doesn't actually restrict anything, lol)

It seems like only the smaller off brand names are restricted but the bigger name stuff is fine
