CNC Machined 1GR-FE Exhaust Cam Gears (3° Retard)

Ok folks, I've upped the initial batch from 25 to 30 due to demand. I'm capping it here.

I have one set of gears that does not have a deposit on them. @12TRDTacoma if you'd like to ensure a set, please make your deposit soon. Once a deposit is made on this last set, I will not have any gears left over until the next batch so get in on this while there is a set left!

 

Mine wont be, but i do imagine others will be up for sale. Im just getting these in case i ever do want to sell mine so i dont have to pull the valve covers off to swap cam gears

I called this AM and I’m expecting a call back any minute. I’ll update you all when they ring me back. I know they had the blanks cut late last week.

 

Thanks for the update. Just wondering when I need to plan a mod weekend. Plan is to do cam gears, 650cc injectors, SAI delete, bypass valve adjustment, and maybe some porting all together when the blower is off. Oh and URD headers and roush tensioner.

 

Gonna be a big weekend. Plan about 6-8 hrs for the headers

 

For sure. I just installed the DT shorty headers last year so the hardware should still be in decent shape to get off.

Gonna have a lot of parts for sale soon....DT shorty headers with Vibrant cats and URD ypipe eventually. I don't want to think about all the money I've spent upgrading my upgrades.

If all the new mods that are available in 2019 were available last summer, I'd have saved a boatload of money lol. Could have put a few more strippers through college at least.

URD longtubes > DT shorties (chose DT shorties because of the CEL issues with URDs that can now be disabled)

 

Ok, spoke to the guys at the shop.

They have the blanks cut, and they ran a few sets through but were not happy with the quality of machining that was done when cutting the keyway and gear profile due to a well used bit. They knew the "cutter" (CNC tool) wasn't tip top, but wanted to see if they could get satisfactory results. They've ordered up new bits to get a quality finish on the machining. They admitted they're going to be a little later than expected, but they're still anticipating the week of the 13th just probably later that week.

 

Lemme know. I might be interested in the Y pipe if I haven’t gotten that far by then.

I need to touch base with them (Metro Sprocket & Gear). I intend to stop by the shop tomorrow.

Truth be told, I’m a little disappointed in how they’re handling this order. I was given a May 13th completion date at the time I sat down with them and worked out the details. They had a small, but legitimate setback, which I understand. But when I approached them last week they pushed the project another week (this week).

At this point, I’m not sure I’d like to do another run of gears with this manufacturer, unless they can stand behind their word and make the deadlines they, themselves determined.

I’ll keep you guys posted.
