It’s tough to find a machine shop that meets their deadlines from my experience. Not excusing them but that’s just how it seems to go.

Unfortunately @loginfailed and FICs group buy before this spoiled us and raised the standard. Tough act to follow :D

But seriously, thanks for the updates.

Any other work I/we should or could do when diving this deep into the engine? New valve cover gaskets recommended? I'm debating doing a new timing chain while in the mix. I get P0022 "A" camshaft position over retarded bank 2 about every other month. Sensor swapped at one point to confirm it wasn't the sensor and cleaned the oil screen too.

Definitely do the valve cover gaskets. And from the history your truck has had. I would bet your timing chain is probably on the edge of the service limit.

Did anyone (maybe OP) test a prototype yet?

@mightytacoman look in here and check how far the tensioner piston extends to see if your chain is stretched

I have looked and looked for info on this window! I knew I could look in here to check timing chain life, but didn't know what to be looking for. Thank you!

In that picture piston is less than half way so chain still good. RTV to seal the window back up.

Didn't have time before work this afternoon to stop in, but I did give them a call. They are cutting the teeth on the new blanks today and tomorrow. Heat treat is scheduled Mon/Tues and he says there should be little reason they're not ready this coming Wed. (29th).

I too stressed to them, that I prefer a dimensionally correct part over getting them back sooner during our initial consult.

I really do appreciate everyone's patience with these small setbacks.
