MESO Total Tail Light Kit

That is the dimming wire on the V6 Triton switchback bulb. In a forward facing application it can be hooked up to your headlights so that the white dims when your headlights turn on. It is not used for MESO's kit.

 

This is true.
Do not hook up the single lead wire. It’s to dim the white output for when you use these as DRL in your headlights. In our case we want the white to be 100% bright for reverse, thus no need to dim.

 

For all those that have done the stage 2 - What epoxy is recommended? I see JB. I'm not smart enough to track all the polymer types..just a normal 5-min epoxy work too? Or is JB the best so far?

I used the JB KwikWeld. Just mix and put on. It set pretty quick.

Wait, that's too affordable; something's not right. Can one of you kind LED guru's give me reason to spend $100 more on the VLED?

 

Could this be used in junction with courtesy lamps/ puddle lamps Obviously there is a way, But if I just run that extra lead to 12v does is come on dim, or does it need to be on bright first?

 

A lot of cheaper Chinese bulbs are ran at maximum (often higher) output. Obviously to get the maximum brightness. But there is a trade off...life expectancy. Not saying they are not bright, as we can tell they most definitely are. But with higher priced bulbs you are paying for better quality components, and running more efficiently(while still putting out the same brightness or more)=longer lasting bulb. I mean for $20 its worth a try, and in no way am I bashing them. Just putting in perspective what differentiates cheap and more expensive bulbs

You talking about running courtesy circuit to the reverse bulb? A lot of check and GM vehicles will turn the reverse on upon unlock.

 

If I have led’s all around, high, low, fog, side marker, front turn signal, V4 mirrors will I need resisters for stage 2?

 

It doesn’t matter if you have leds all around. Only matters for mirror turns, front and rear turns

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Looking at vleds website it looks like that wire is only a dimming trigger. So I'd need to actually power the reverse circuit.

 

I used 3M universal adhesive black PN: 08223.

 

I used J-B Weld Plastic Bonder. 15 minute set, 30 minute cure.

 

I used a torch and xacto knife and it came out fine. The lip won't be perfectly smooth but it fit the adapter and epoxy.
