Adding Down Hill Assist?

I have a 2007 TRD Off Road and I noticed while installing my CB that the button blanks where Down Hill Assist and traction control have wiring harness attached to the back of them.
Am I just an overly optimistic person or is it possible that the only reason I don't have Down Hill Assist and Traction control on my truck is simply because I don't have the button to turn it on?
It would be incredibly easy and cheap for Toyota to have all of the wiring in place for every option and just put in the button if the customer asks for that option. I am assuming that the actual down hill assist and traction control is just a computer program that gets turned on by the switch.

Has anybody tried putting the switches in to see what happens?
Is it possible to add down hill assist and traction control to a truck that didn't come with these options?
That would be really cool.

 

I'm just a curious as you. And yes it would be really cool if it works. Can anyone confirm this? I would go out and get me buttons if it does.

 

mine has wires behind the blanks but they are for factory fog lights and the rear locker... downhill assist didnt come around till 09 I think

 

Yup, the VSC, AUTO-LSD, TRAC and A-TRAC (and downhill assist) is for '09 and newer OFF ROAD 4WD Tacos.

The downhill assist is fun, but the least valuable of the new traction features, IMO. It only works in L4, and allows you to totally keep your foot off the brake when you are creeping down a steep, off road grade. Allows the tires to roll and not lock up and skid, as they would if you used the brakes. Makes the same noises the A-TRAC makes.

VSC (from Bosch) keeps you going straight at highway speeds should you begin to go into a skid.

TRAC helps you get moving from a stop on wet or poor traction surfaces, or keep you moving through poor traction areas. Uses brakes on slipping tire to transfer torque to traction tire. In 2WD, it also regulates engine output to reduce spinning of non-traction tire. In H4, it is akin to having automatic limited slip, front and rear.

AUTO LSD is TRAC in 2WD without the engine output regulation... to help you move out from a stuck in snow or mud.

A-TRAC (Active Traction Control) is akin to automatic front and rear lockers while in L4. Unlike lockers, the A-TRAC does not interfere with steering ability!

 

I had an '05 TRD OFF ROAD 4WD, and no VSC was included... VSC needs TRAC to work, so I doubt it unless it was some other system.

 

Has anyone found out if we can add the switches.
