Nope, just pointing out you have no real world experience. It’s something the OP should know before taking “expert advice” from someone with 4.10s

Kind of pathetic you answer questions based on zero experience to simply get your post count up. Oh well, you keep being you.

Who would like to explain the ratios to me. I’m like totally smart in math like totally, so, like I’m just asking what is being measured?

Thanks. So I interpret this as a higher ratio gives better (quicker) performance off the line but reduces the top end, so finding the sweet spot is very dependent on goals, driving style, tire diameter and likely even shift points in unison.

Appreciate the quick and informative reply btw. Tx.

Turd Haag is right. I have read and reviewed many different situations in re gearing. So my question was asked more for those who have ran either ratios or both.

Meaning I want people who have actually experienced the changes to offer feed back. Life experiences can speak volumes over just reading manuals and spec sheets. Which are a great starting points for any situation in life.

I have noticed most people on this thread have the same thought and experience as one another. Which speaks volumes to me. So I appreciate everyone’s feed back and thank you.

Lol, I guess speaking with the lead rep of Nitro is bad advice. I do my research and I do it well because I do it for a living, and yes I will continue being who I am. TW is just a grain of sand in my beach

It’s pretty obvious you’re a bitter guy...not sure what I did to set you off, but in other threads it seems it’s not too hard from other people as well. I come here to offer advice, whether it be direct experience or directly from the source.

I have a 2016 sport and i added 4.88's about 2 years ago and not long after added OVtune. At the time of those 2 mods i wasnt so heavy. The truck ran great and as upgrades came out from OVtune it got even better. At this time i was lifted with 285/70/17's. Soon after the tune and re gear i added front bumper with a winch, Full set of steal skids all the way back,RTT,sliders. My truck was starting to feel the weight, MPG's were down and holding 5th and 6th on inclines starting doing the gear dance a little bit. Then this last month i added a Pelfreybilt HC rear bumper and made a custom swing out to add to it. Add the spare tire (96lbs) and 2 5gal cans. Well my truck is now a heavy ass Pig! I just took it on an 800 mile trip to New Mexico and it was not a great driving experience, had a slight headwind so that didnt help. The 4.88's no longer help the gear dance 6th 5th 4th. I eventually gave up on 6th and kept it in Smode and did my own shifting as needed. I did forget to add that i have jumped up to 34's 8 months ago so there is some added weight and tire size. 5.29's will be the best choice if you plan to add the weight of all the mods that i have. I would even say 5.29's on just a lifted truck with 33 would work really well. For me if i had the 5.29s 6th gear would be able to work really well.

Im not so sure OP can handle this level of actual real world experience.

5.29 gives you more flexibility when it comes to outfitting your truck. You may not make changes now but you may in the future and a lot of people who have 4.88s wish they had 5.29s.

I have yet to see a post from someone with 5.29s wanting 4.88s.

You can see in my thread I ran them with stock tires for a long time.

The transmission with compensate in most ways with whichever you choose.

The jump from stock gears is much bigger than the jump from 4.88 to 5.29.
