    You’re telling me.

This is a house in the Silicon Valley. It’s from the 1960’s and is 890 total square feet. 2 Bed/1 Bath. How much do you think it sold for?

    802DF19E-C099-4CDF-ACFE-FC9EEC54CA1C.jpg

    $2,950,000

Ever wonder what an $12,000,000 house looks like? It sold in a single day for $3,000,000 over asking price.

another reason to avoid cali is the cost of living.

My over 3000 sq ft home with a 800 sq ft attached garage and an unfinished basement (not counted towards the sq footage) is only 400k!

I live in a pretty nice neighborhood in a less respectable suburb of the Bay Area. House is 3,500 square feet, 5 bed/4.5 bath built 2005. 2 car garage.

The neighbor’s house sold for $1,600,000 a few months ago.

    This is my favorite.

This is a burnt down shell of a house outside San Jose.

    B893C139-F42C-4DBF-B3DC-3FB54F3E68F5.jpg

    It sold for $900,000.

    $100,000 over asking.

cant justify that kinda cost on a house.

the plans im looking at for a home whenever i decide to build counting the cost of property (im looking at like 20 acres) its going to be less than 400k, and thats with a big pole barn factored in

So someone will routinely take a dump in front of it too, and it's impossible to get to by car

My house was built new and paid for in cash by my parents for around $100,000. This was one of the better houses in the neighborhood until it the hood people showed up and ruined the damn place. Those California prices are insane! That’s why we left the Golden State for the Lone Star State. 606FDA8E-2869-4834-A330-65709B3405A2.jpg

4 bed 2 bath. It’s now worth double, and parents will sell it once my dad retires in 11 years and I graduate college.

It costs a lot to live here, but the people who are in the right field (tech, STEM, biomedical) make more than anyone in the same field anywhere else in the country. Silicon Valley is lucrative for a reason.

thats a damn good deal then

i think my parents built out house for around 320k, its worth around 460k now. well appraised at that (illinois people are paying well over asking for homes here right now). bet they could get 500k easy if they wanted to sell

yes but when cost of living is higher and wages are higher it just basically turns into the same living situation if you did it anywhere else. My IT guy was a cali boy for years, moved out here and makes less, but does more with the less than he did out in san fran

That’s debatable. They would probably make more, and afford more here in Plano or Dallas FW. Texas has some pretty wealthy people lol.

just because wages are higher doesnt mean you have more money to blow.

cost of living goes up with wages going up.

Even WA has a lower cost of living in the high tech west side.

My neighbor rents out all the rooms in the house and makes big bucks (that’s a another story) mortgage is $4,000 a month, he’s making $8,000 a month of rentals.

Anyway. Most of the people who live there are out of state transplants. I’m seeing cars from Virginia, Missouri, Alabama, Florida - you name it. My conversations with them always end up with the same result, they were relocated by <Big Tech Company> to work in the Silicon Valley.
