No you’re right. SoCal is always hot and has your typical “California” weather.

San Francisco is freezing 90% of the year.

It’s always fun to see tourists on the Golden Gate Bridge in their t-shirts and shorts expecting it to be warm because ya know, it’s California.

Only to immediately see them recoil and run back onto the bus.

 

define "freezing" its shorts weather for me anything about 35 degrees

 

That was us in 2013 lmao. We forgot how cold SF was.

 

Freezing in California is anything below 60 degrees. Ask any Californian and they’ll agree with me.

 

Details are lost when you only view things through heavy contrast.

I live there. Sometimes I don’t see the sun for days at a time. Fog. Lots of fog.

 

I dunno, Santa Cruz folks knew it could actually get cold but wore shorts and short sleeves in 45 degree weather which was common

Maybe it’s just my generation, but everyone is freezing if it dips below 60.

For me, anything below 45 is too cold. Those cold mornings when I would drive to school it would physically hurt to grab the steering wheel because it was so cold.

I’m probably the only person who keeps leather gloves in the glove box.

I’ve been all over, somehow the worst climate I’ve lived in is Mississippi. That includes the Philippines, which is a tropical country. Somehow Mississippi was worse.

 

Anything above 20 up to 40 is just hoodie and jeans weather for me. I might dig out a real jacket below 20

You also have to factor where you’ve lived most of your life. I was born and raised in sunny California. I didn’t touch snow until I was nine years old.

If you’re not acclimated to a climate, your tolerances will be obviously different.

My mom went from living in the tropical Philippines for most of her life, immediately to Midtown Manhattan in the middle of a blizzard.
