Looking for supplies to stock my truck...that can help me get out of town and be ok. ( I might not ever need these things; but would like to have just in case).

Looking for ways to pack it all in...
    I need:
    Vehicle safe strongbox
Emergency food, water, first aid, dog gear, etc.
    Things I don't know I even need.

A good pair of hiking boots. I go out solo about 99% of the time and hiking out is a real possibility if I have a vehicle failure or get stuck

I carry two pairs of socks with my boots.

I keep a get home bag in my truck in case I need to travel in less than ideal conditions. My get out of Dodge stuff is at home though, mainly because the heat will destroy food, water and ammo fairly quickly if left in the truck.

I don't hike anymore (25+ years of hiking and now a titanium heel) but mostly my truck is not off-road, and I drive from PHX to Pine fairly regularly cause I have a place up there. I'm hoping for hacks, tips and tricks on what you all are carrying, what works, etc.

A tonneau cover - especially a hard one - will let you store totes of stuff out of sight and out of mind of most people and keep your backseat useable. I have Decked drawers and they serve the same purpose. Discrete and secure.

Really all you need is a good shotgun to take supplies from others who prepped.

I'm just going to say this; if the situation you're imagining is requiring you to "get out of town and be okay", you will need at least one defensive firearm, ammo and training. You won't be the only one with the idea of leaving, and, sadly enough, without a gun and the wherewithal to use it, you've just stocked a truck for the first person who wants it more.

Also, get a pocket edition of the SAS Survival Guide, a good 3-5" 1095 steel knife (ESEE or similar), and small sling bag to carry it all in when the truck is no longer viable.

    - Tire plugs & small air compressor, e.g. vivair 88p.
    - Ensure the spare tire mechanism is fully functional & tire can be lowered/removed

I’ve always started with the Boy Scouts 10 outdoor essentials, and then built off from there. Gives you a good baseline of what you’ll need

Start slow and be deliberate in your choices in gear, especially if you may need them some day. I started with a quick-access fire extinguisher and trauma kit (built so I know exactly what’s in it).

    C301948D-5E6D-4AA8-AA13-D32B1D1E7AC4.jpg

If your into firearms, I’ve found that the best truck gun for me is a 12G/22lr break-action single-shot. You can easily swap out the barrels, they’re very cheap, and extremely simple. Mines a Rossi, but some other companies may make them. I supplement this with my EDC Glock 43 9mm and Spyderco knife.

For communication I have a dual band HAM radio, a CB radio, and soon will have a PLB or Garmin InReach. All this on top of my cell phone. Redundancy is key here.

For food, I usually carry 1 MRE for each day I will be remote, along with whatever other food I plan on eating. They’re pretty compact, last damn near forever, and are packed with calories. I also have my break action single shot if I need to hunt in a dire situation.

Water is pretty easy. At least 2 gallons per person per day, and a filtration system with tablets. My Sawyer filter is great.

A typical repair kit with zips ties, duct tape, JB Weld, basic tools, extra fluids, ratchet straps, bungees, etc.

I just noticed your in AZ. We actually have a pretty good ongoing thread about this exact topic in the Arizona sub forum.
