Just extra security when parking in the city. I leave a lot of gear in there most days. Portland has a ton of car break ins where they smash windows and run

100% why I went this route. I would have paid more not to have windows (but glad I didn't have to).

Suspension question for the stock truck guys.

I’ve got about 600 lbs of payload with sliders, GFC, and gear.

I’m having Deaver rebuild my leaf springs. Will I be okay on stock TRD Off Road Front/Rear shocks?

Do I need to throw on a rear shock at the same time I get the Deavers done?

In addition to security having spoken with @wileydavis about this he told me the interior stays much cooler without the windows installed. I also thought it looked like much less tempting of a target for any would be thieves with no windows. Nice to have options though... to each his (or her) own.

Now you have me thinking whether I should cancel the windows. Since I am in the Northeast, I am wondering if the windows will help with keeping the interior warmer in cooler temps.

There are many easier and less expensive ways to warm things up in the cold than windows.

The windows don’t change the temp in the bed. I’ve had mine in direct sun in the desert and it’s not warm back there.

The windows are small and won’t affect temp, but they sure do make it nice to see out of.

If you’re worried about privacy, cover the window when you’re parked.

    I’m 100% glad I got the windows.

I like the windows. I can shut the hatch to keep mosquitos out (still been too lazy to make a magnetic bug net) or keep the heat in when it’s cold and not feel trapped in a little box. I can also use my rear view mirror, although that’s been less useful since I added a tire on the swingout and cut the view in half.

Personal preference. I didn’t see a need for them for anything. But if you had them and blocked them with the above mentioned panels you could have the option. Not having any certainly doesn’t effect me driving in anyway. But it can be odd if you aren’t used to it. I’d imagine in Baja where Wiley tested the GFC it made a larger difference.

So has anyone taken the plunge and cut a hole in the top of the GFC yet? With temps rising and my GFC next in line for assembly I’m beginning to worry about summer camping. I dislike sweating in my sleep when it’s too hot, and the little battery powered fans can only do so much. Has anyone added an exhaust fan yet?

@msegal55 Kalvin cut his prinsu to fit his GFC. He has an Instagram post with multiple pictures of the cut rack here. Remember, he is on a DCLB, so he has less overhang than you do.

I may be tempted to do this, even though mine is a dcsb. I wonder if the Prinsu helps at all with aerodynamics...?

Is a roof rack required for you? If not, the GFC has an optional wind skid.

Idk if you’re loading up equipment on your rack or not.

I ordered the Prinsu habitat rack and also have the short bed version. My buddy with a GFC also ordered the habitat but he as a long bed there is a pretty big gap between the rack and the camper. With the short bed and habitat there is a slight overhang.

Here is a long bed with the Prinsu habitat as a reference

Can anyone with a GFC and a swing away tire mount bumper comment on how they are liking the combo? I am considering getting an aftermarket bumper with a swing away, but am worried that it will get in the way of getting in and out of the camper (specifically getting out).

It took a little getting used to at first, but once I started using the GFC side panels for easy access I never went back. Now I typically only use the tailgate for access when I am loading up the vehicle or deploying at camp. If you organize your gear for easy access the swingout blocking the tailgate shouldn't be an issue. Any gear that I need quickly along with access to my cooler/fridge can easily be reached via the side panels.
