And honestly the best thing to bring with is knowledge and experience as mentioned before. Take a wilderness first aid course if you haven’t already or take a refresher. go through the process of getting your HAM radio license. Take some time at the range to familiarize yourself with whatever you’ll be carrying. My personal favorite is doing a survival weekend where you actually test yourself. The $10 dollar challenge is a good way to test your basic survival skills, test how you can adapt and improvise, and make smart decisions. I’ll promise you’ll learn a lot about yourself taking the challenge, if you have little experience in the area. Many folks load up on gear and often have little knowledge of how to use it or implement it into an effective survival plan. Same goes for tacticool guys who can’t group with their $2000 ARs at 50 yards. Give the $10 dollar store challenge a try though and be amazed at what you’ll learn about yourself!

I generally find LLOD's videos enjoyable and he seems to be more in the prepared category than prepper side given he lives in the mountains but the dude with that truck was a little over the edge.

    Hardly.
Keeping emergency supplies in your vehicle is pretty common in a lot of countries, especially ones with large areas that are sparsely populated and easily accessible.

    :notsure:

Edit- in America we just waste a lot of $$ making it 'tacticool'

Well, it's Travis Haley. He's seen and done cooler things than all of us combined.

I have a lot of recovery gear and repair gear with tools. That's first for me. If I am stuck, I can only take what I can carry. Some first aid, which I think I have used as much as my recovery gear. I have a couple bottles of water, but all I am after is getting home. Water containers tend to leak especially after freezing, so I just keep a few bottles and rotate. I keep a bag with some spare clothes. In the winter, that includes more insulation and a full waterproof layer. I usually toss in a pair of Carhartt's in the winter too. I have pulled a lot of people out and it's more fun doing it while warm. Pistol and mags along with a couple boxes of ammo. I have some emergency rations in my bag, but I am not really worried about food if trying to get home. If I am on a road trip, many things are added.

After going through several survival schools, I can tell you that in order to “survive”, water and fire are the biggest things you need. A lighter (or a fire maker), some water purification tablets and a basic first aid kit is usually plenty. You can go a while without food. Remember, surviving is not camping.

If it gets so bad that you have to get out of town that quick, your too late because everyone else is too and the roads will turn into one big parking lot, gas stations out of gas, hotels booked for hundreds of miles and so forth, at that point you better be able to walk some long distances.

Think hurricane evacuations on the east coast and what a shit show that is every year.

For the doomsday guys when your running low on food!

I do think it is good to be prepared in the event of an earthquake or forest fire/natural disaster. That can definitely happen.
