    Hi all,

I bought a used 2016 4x4 taco last year and it's great, but it leaks when it rains. Sometimes so much that the cup holders are completely full when I get up in the morning after a rainy night. The water drips from the the side of my terrain controls (see pic). I think water is coming through sunroof and sitting in that area because it leaks from there when driving after rain.

Has anyone had this issue? Any suggestions?

3rd brake light may be leaking since that is a common issue. There is also a TSB for it so if you go to the dealer they can fix it and maybe warranty your liner.

If you have a sunroof though, it could just be a bad seal.

A Roof Rack and the 3rd brakelight are also problem areas too.

I don't think it's the 3rd break light since the leak is in the front of the truck. Also, I don't have a roof rack. Thanks though.

Check behind your rear seats, sometimes it gathers there too. ..

When water is coming from the top...
Seems that 80% of the time it is 3rd brake light (sometimes runs along the headlinder and comes out in weird places)
The other 20% is split between plugged drains in the sunroof or leaking at the roof rack holes.

My 2017 OR did exactly the same thing. Issue turned out to be a puncture in some urethane liner up there that evidently happened when the dealership (not Toyota) replaced the windshield prior to sale. I took it to a local glass and windshield shop and for $50 they fixed it right up. Might be worth noting that the dealership had the guy that did the windshield replacement "fix" it before delivery which obviously was a fail. The glass shop pulled the head liner off and pressurized the interior to find the leak. At least that's what they told me. Point being all glass work is not equal and your mileage may vary depending on who is doing the work.

Does it have a sunroof? If so, check to see if the drain tubes are plugged or not connected properly.

Does someone have the link to the TSB for the 3rd Brake light leak? It rained today and I believe that's what caused the leak I found.

Doesn't have a roof rack but has holes for a roof rack. Since it's used it maybe worth checking that they are still sealed underneath the weather stripping.
