I searched but didn’t find the answer. Would like to know what modifications are required to fit a DCSB exhaust on a DCLB. Anybody know? Thanks.

I would think you just have to add a little bit more piping, not sure though hopefully someone else can chime in

Maybe I'm lost on this one, but why wouldn't you just buy the long bed exhaust?

I’m hoping to find a stock exhaust someone has taken off to replace with an aftermarket exhaust. There are a lot more short bed owners doing this than long bed. I have a long bed that will need an exhaust soon. Real complicated I know. Figured it might not be to hard to do but I don’t have one sitting around to compare them.

Gotcha, may be more trouble than it's worth. The hangers positioning could be wrong and you'll need to add tubing somewhere.

But it may only need a piece of tubing welded in. I’m not made of money so I’m trying to get this done for less than the price of a new exhaust. Thanks for helping.

I'd imagine an exhaust shop could do it for pretty cheap without you having to find a short one and pay to have it modified. What's wrong with yours, why not just have it repaired?

It’s just started to make a little rumbling noise. When I crawled underneath to look at it I saw a rust spot and bulge forming right at the seam that runs along the bottom of the muffler. The rest of the pipe from the cat back is getting rusty looking too. Seems like it might not be worth trying to patch it up. I saw a short bed take off that looks almost new for sale on CL for $100 and wondered how different they might be. I did make an ad in the for sale section looking for a long bed take off but that’s probably a real long shot.

For anyone considering this I wanted to come back and give my experience. It’s been over a year now. I purchased the $100 2014 short bed exhaust from the CL add for $80. Took it to a shop and had them cut the flange off and then they cut mine off after the flange and welded it together. I don’t think it would have lasted without the flange. They had to heat the rear most mount that’s near the tailpipe and turn it 90 degrees. Everything including pulling the old exhaust, getting the used replacement installed and welded for just $50. Not too bad. Afterward it dawned on me that I could have had them make a flange to flange section and just bolted it in to get the extra length. Still holding up just fine. Nice and quiet. I kept the left over straight section of pipe and flange in case I ever need to patch it up.

I used a 2016 up exhaust on my 2010 . Was almost brand new from craigslist $40 so chanced it . . Front of 2016 different bends so sliced mine and joined with sleeve and band clamp . Could have welded together but lazy lol.Had to mod rear hanger like yours .

    Just another option

I thought they looked alike from the muffler back. Thanks for chiming in. I know most on here want that 6 cylinder to growl but I like quiet exhaust. If only I could get my bike to be quiet. I stuck a car muffler on it once to see how quiet it would get. Couldn’t really ride it that way but the intake honk was still pretty loud lol.
