2018 Tacoma, Lift ?

    I have a question about the lift on this truck. It has only what I call "spacer" blocks for the lift. It's for sale at a dealership in Wisconsin which is 600 miles from where I live. Are these type of lifts safe? ok? Dealer asking price $36,999, it has 5,600 miles. The UCA's in the pic they sent look stock to me. This is a TRD Off Road.IMG_6174.jpg IMG_6172.jpg IMG_6173.jpg

    Safe? Yes.
    Ideal? Nope.

    Dealers add super cheapo hockey puck spacers and blocks for super cheap and then jack up the price for the lift.
    I bought my brand new Tacoma in 2017 and added an actual suspension lift (Icon on all 4 corners) for around that same price.

    I personally wouldn't suggest a spacer lift like that. that block in the back will provide you with nothing but extra axle wrap and vibrations if the pinion angle wasn't corrected. It will also limit your travel as that's the stock length rear shock, That block will cause the shock to over extend. Then, the blocks in the front will cause its own fair share of issues also.

    Those UCAs are also not stock.

    Not trying to be negative.. Just offering some facts to help you form your own opinion. If you buy and use that truck as a daily driver with limited Offroad and heavy use, you'll be golden. Anything much more than that, id suggest a different setup.

    I am ignorant with lifts so I apologize. But what types of differences would these have to the vehicle?

    I'm asking because I just bought a brand new Tacoma and had them put a lift in for me and I'm curious what kind of lift it is.

    Spacer lifts are the padded bra of suspension. If your goal is just for looks and plan on never taking it off road, then they are (arguably) a safe route to go. The problem is that by sticking a hunk of metal above the coil, you can break your shock if you hit a big enough bump.
    There are tons of guys that run them, but I will personally never recommend them.

    Yea no i wouldn’t do it.. i just bought a brand new 19’ TRD off road and put FOX suspension on it for about the same cost as that one. If you are going to spend 33-35k$ on a truck and want to lift it.. Do it right!! Spacers and blocks give you the look but the ride quality suffers. Trust me i did it on my last Tacoma.. never again.
