Only the 2001+ Tacos were eligible for the frame replacement under the extended warranty. The pre 2001 trucks with a rusty frame were bought back and crushed.

As far as I know, it's not that the rust was necessarily "worse" for the older frames (it's pretty damn bad for the 2001-2004 and even the 2nd gens, too), I think it was just a management decision, maybe having to do with not manufacturing the pre-2001 frames anymore.

Regarding the first gen Toyota Tacoma, your body guy is wrong.
The production year of the first gen taco frame rusting is/wasn't pertinent. Much MUCH more important was/is the location and conditions the taco was driven and stored in

Not in the 2nd pic, that's a rust free frame there.

    It is suspiciously clean, though...

Are 1995.5-2000 frames different than 2001-2004 frames?

    do you have the numbers?
    i.e.,
how many were bot back and crushed and what model years
how many frames were replaced? locations, etc.
this could potentially tell a story if those #s are available to discuss

this will tell me if its pertinent or not to move to next topic of this issue
that it is or is not statistically significant

all i know so far is starting in 1998 the frame design changed (leaf springs)

It's a Florida truck lol the last owner had it in he's garage till he got a new 150,000 tesla and then it became a outside truck smh be it did break his heart selling it he's said the only reason was because he need room in his drive way and hated moving the truck all the time to get his other car out the garage which was a 2005 Nissan 350z with 6000 miles lol
