So I’m upgrading my tires. And I’m debating between these two brands.

    Falken Wildpeak A/T3W

    Cooper S/T Maxx

    Size is 255/80 R17

I’ve had the falkens before and I absolutely loved them, but I’ve also heard some great things about the Coopers. So I’d like to hear from people that have experience with both. Pros/ Cons.
I would normally stick with the Falkens but I’m open to try new things if they are good

    Never had Falkens or coopers...

But I am going with Falkens when I can afford it.

Yes, I definitely loved the falkens. Better than Toyo, nitto AND BFG in my experience. But I’m super curious about these coopers

    Falkens > Coopers

I had alignment issues with the Coopers. Pulled to the right. Ride quality is better with the Falkens.

Cooper will probably last longer though. Probably better in snow, but both are really good.

    Take your pick!

I have had coopers and they were a good tire.
Btw, these are my tire choices also. I think you can get the Falkens for like 600 delivered to your house.

Not in the size I want, I’ve been looking everywhere. Lowest I’ve found is 780 shipped with military discount

I hated Toyo Open country. Had them in 35s on my Jeep, they were the loudest tires I’ve ever run

Edit: did amazing on trails tho

You’re comparing two different types of tires.

The Falkens you’re looking at are more comparable to the Cooper AT3 XLT. They’re Th regular AT tires.

The Maxxx is a hybrid tire that fits between AT and MT. It’ll ride stiffer, be louder, and be a little more squirrelly in road mannerisms. It’ll be much better off road, through.

Didn’t even realize. I thought the Maxx was compared to the AT3. Especially since the AT3 looks damn near like a mud tire to me.

I have a set of 285s Falkens on my 4runner that have about 35k miles on them. And they look brand freakin new. Extremely quiet on the highway, and do great on water (no hydroplaning). So I’m leaning more towards the Falkens again. But I’ve also heard some of the same stuff from the coopers. And I kinda like the sidewall on the coopers better

My only negative with the falkens was when balancing, it took A LOT of weights on 3 out of 4 tires to balance properly

I leaned between the XLT and above series (Max or Pro) from Cooper. I went with the deal I got for the XLTs and to see if they’d be as stiff, loud, and miserable on fuel economy as my Duratracs were in the same size. All three improved, and they are both Load E.

Unless you are going to spend significant time off road or must have a tire that looks one way, I’ll always suggest getting a regular AT tire. Cheaper, more comfortable, and better road mannerisms. Anyone staying otherwise has confirmation bias for their purchases, which we’re all guilty of.

What are the Falkens considered? AT? Or a hybrid
