It's not too hard of a job... certainly not fun. Have done it to my dad's. If I had my own shop I'd offer to help. Still looking for a place of my own..

I got mine done at Silent Knight exhaust on Bozeman. He wasn't excited about it mainly because he says aftermarket gaskets don't always last.

I got Toyota OEM crush gaskets for the headers.

My only real regret is the permanent check engine light since the URD O2 Sim doesn't work on 2015's.

    Thanks, good to know.
I checked with Silent Knight here in Billings and they won’t touch it since it’d delete the front cats. I assume they’re the same owners?

Oh well, I think I have a lead here in town that will do it, I’ve been asking around.

You know HP tuners can delete that check engine light. For off road use of course.

This is interesting what exactly is an HP tuner what do they cost? I have a catalist below efficiency code that keeps popping up. It's not plugged just setting the code it's annoying it would be cool to get rid of it without replacing the catalytic converters.

Thanks, I think I am going to try and get precision to tint the windows. They are $20 more but I am hoping they can pickup my vehicle from work in four corners and get it tinted while I am working.

If someone has a HD tuner they could possibly turn off your MIL(check engine) light for your missing catalytic converters for a fee. This is getting interesting the question is who gas a tuner?

Just talked to Justin at Silent Knight in Bozeman. He's independent of Billings. He said give him a call. He'll consider doing your headers.

Meanwhile I talked to him about my CEL. I always have code P013A and P013C which are "Slow Response" from the rear O2 Sensors. Not an actual cat code. He thinks I need to remove the URD O2 Sim and replace it rather than put cats back in. He says the O2 sensors are voltage dependent and more likely a wiring issue than anything else.

Same codes its always thrown though and URD was never any help. They just tell me they don't know why it doesn't work on 2015s.

If you clear your codes will the light come back on during the same drive cycle? I have a recurring p430 code but if I clear it it won't come back on in the same drive cycle. I leave a bluetooth code reader plugged in and clear the pending code before I shut off the truck every time and the CEL doesn't come on.

It will if I drive long enough. Yes.

I talked to Gadget at URD again today.

It sounds like they have a better idea now what's going on. They're no longer using a plug and play O2 Sim for 2015s. They only use a universal O2 sim now but it has to be hard wired in. It has dials on it to adjust settings. So apparently you have to customize it on your own to make it work. And, over time as your O2 Sensors wear it requires tweaks.

Gadget said, in my case, the ECM in the truck is programmed to get a Rich to Lean sensor read within a certain amount of time. Toyota adjusts this year to year. When cruising at speed and suddenly letting off the gas (say, exiting the freeway) the engine shuts down cylinders as you decelerate. Since the front sensors detect no combustion happening the ECM expects a similar read from the rear O2 sensors. That's partly what the O2 Simulator is tweaking. However, on some of these 2015 Tacomas that isn't happening in the right amount of time, so the ECM throws a code.

With the universal O2 sim, you install it, set it to 90%, then drive the truck. When the CEL comes on you stop, turn it off, adjust the setting, reset codes, and drive again. Repeat until the CEL stops coming on.

Also, the P0430 code indicates a bad catalyst or sensor. That means a bad reading.

Whereas my P013A/C means the sensor is taking to long to reply.

Thanks for checking on that. I found a place here in Billings that’s doing it on Tuesday for me, a cash only deal.
If for any reason it doesn’t work out, I’ll give Silent Knight a call.

Now that you’ve had the headers for a little while, how are you liking them? (Besides the CEL)
Was the gain a pretty noticeable one?

likely not notice a big difference. Opening the exhaust on an NA motor usually results in loss of low end torque and gains in higher rpm power.

Unless your boosted, then its really worth it.

Will sound a lot different though!

I’d normally agree with that, and that’s definitely true about the low end loss with most long tube headers. These equal length headers specifically show no loss of power anywhere. The biggest gains are up higher in the rpm’s, yes, but there are no losses down low.
According to their own dyno and everything else I’ve read anyway.

I know it’s not like bolting up a supercharger, but I’m just curious what someone’s opinion is on real world driving that has this same setup.

    oh right equal length.

I know my buddy @SconnieHailer has them. I think he likes them.

Not ideal weather going into a 3 day weekend. Sigh. Anyone planning on going anywhere? Anyone from Bozeman need anything from Billings, or vice versa? Headed there sunday and coming back monday. Figured I'd ask.
