yeah, just call it a night. my money is on a wonky connection somewhere.

 

It sure sounds like it's struggling. So it won't start at all? If you have spark & fuel and you think the starter is bad & the truck should start, try jump starting it... as in push start.

Edit, oh wait, you're auto? For some reason I was thinking you were manual.

Just a thought, did you connect/check all the harness grounds? IIRC there's 3 main important chassis grounds, at the battery, on the firewall, & bottom of the block.

Why do you think I pulled you out at Pismo?

I’ll have to pull a plug and check for spark, but I’m certain there’s fuel. I just changed the ‘O’ rings on the fuel rail.

That stuff shouldn’t cause a slow cranking starter though.

 

I only touched two grounds, Firewall x Engine Block and Injector Harness x Manifold.

I grounded the Firewall to the block, but I don’t think to the same bolt. Shouldn’t matter though since it’s the block.

everything matters (and is suspect) when something is not working correctly.

You should know that from your electrical engineering classes.

 

650 is the San Francisco Peninsula

 

I’ll check the resistance if it makes you feel better but I’m pretty sure it’s grounding correctly. Didn’t touch the firewall attachment, only the block. I grounded it on the bare surface of the block wall.

The injector harness should be okay, filed down the paint but again — a bad ground shouldn’t cause a convoluted starter.

 

Cause they/we always make the newbies do the hard work! But yeah, I remembered that everyone else was manual & you were auto so you got the honors.

Lol, yeah I'll never forget that trip. I tried so hard not to laugh cause I didn't know the guy well but it was just to funny the way he said it. Sure did enlighten my mood at the time.
