Your built taco looks very familiar. Was it previously owned or are you the builder?

I’m the 3rd owner. Was known as Amelia then Adventure Tacoma from what I understand. Both previous owners were on the forum I believe. It was also on a MSO trip I’ve got a lot of great times with it so far. Mainly purchased it for the war on wild hogs that are slowly creeping north into VA. It’s been through a lot of water and had a lot of blood on the tailgate it’s a great rig. Definitely goes places my stock truck can’t and this way I split up the mileage I’m putting on both it’s a win win so far.

I thought that was Ameliorate, good friends with the original owner and have spent a bit of time myself wrenching on that truck. As well as following it down trails.

And just to add a creepy factor, I've slept in that tent...

Haha! Awesome man well no worries I don’t spend much time in the tent the hogs usually are way deep in the swamps I hunt and tents get hot as hell in the summer but it’s nice if it’s raining for days.

Might consult with you if I run into any issues but so far it runs like a top even going through 3ft of river mud and tearing across fields at 55mph.

Tell the original owner I’m very happy with it just put new coopers on it this week and barely past 92k........Any plans I have would be to do a complete 2.5 LT setup in the front and new kings in the rear. Might even get a new axle in the back and switch to 37s with a super charger and 4.88s or higher. Anything I’d take off of there I’d add to my daily driver.

No such thing as a +2.5" LT setup. LT setups are primarily +2" or +3.5". There are 1-2 companies that make +4.5" kits, and Marlin Crawler is working on releasing +2" and +2.75" kit.

Oh yeah I meant 3.5” LT because McNeil does the 4” glass right? That way I should be able to get full articulation even if I go 37s or is that only for a 2 LT and the 4” glass I forget?

If you're planning on 37s, a +3.5" kit would probably be the way to go, unless you want to wait for Marlin Crawler to release their kits (probably summer/fall timeframe). Their kits push the wheels forward as well, and they're claiming (if I'm remembering correctly) that 37s will fit with their +2 kit and 40s will fit with their +2.75 kit.

For the fiberglass, I'd go with 6" with a +3.5" kit. You have to take into account the added width of the tires that you'll be running, and the fact that the wheel backspacing will likely push you out farther as well. I'm running a +2 LT kit with 315 wide tires and 9.5" wheels with a 4.5" BS, and I'm basically flush with 4" fenders.

Ok cool good info. I keep seeing guys with more and more LT setups and just makes sense to me. SC down through FL is swampy but if it’s not swampy it’s pine and sandy so I am looking to go LT with big ass tires for sure. I only have 4:56 though so I think if I went 37 or larger I’d want 5:38 or you think 4:88 is enough? Sprinkle a supercharger in there and it should be alright? I’m only getting about 11mpg currently and I’m thinking bigger gears and Supercharged is is the way to go to make that better.

I could run the math later for what would be closest to stock, but I have the 4 cyl motor so can't say what would actually be best. For gearing options, it's 4.56, 4.88, and 5.29 for the 2nd gen Tacoma.

Ah I see I was looking at the options for a Dana 60 rear axle but I guess that was only for 3rd Gen? Geez man what kind of mileage are you getting with that setup engine and tires combo. I’ve got to be able to go far I’ve been stuck in a swamp during a hurricane because of no gas before learned my lesson. I’ve got to have those MPGs.

ECGS makes a Dana 60 replacement axle for the 2nd gen.

I only just started tracking MPG again since since the tires/regear. The last 7 tanks have ranged from 14-17 mpg. The clutch master cylinder is leaking, so I'm not driving the truck right now.

Oh wow that’s pretty good. I guess a lot of it has to do with the weight of my truck as well

Morning/evening gents. I apologize for not being as active these last few weeks. Back on nights. So sleep during the day. Hope everyone is doing well. A meet up one weekend soon should be in order. Just saying.
