Yup they're eager to sell you a nice shiny new one, also knowing there's a few bucks to be made off your trade-in

I like the 1 gens as well but would love to find a 89-94 yota. I love that body style but they are even harder to find. The 22RE 2.4 5 speed not the 3.slow v6. I know where a few of these are but they know what they have and want way more than I can do. Still looking.

Yea the solid front diffs are badass too in that era.

3.4 on 1st gen gives plenty of power. it’s slightly oversized for the truck, not sure what you mean. Lol They used it on the tundra as well.

If i wanted a real truck with real power I woulda got Cummins 2500

I've seen 50+ year old Fords that don't even run go for $30k.

Asking $8k for a 15-20 year old super reliable pickup truck isn't really asking for the moon and stars.

They'd love to sell you both, actually.

When the wife and I went shopping for a new truck (4Runner), I specifically wanted to drive her car (Corolla) because I knew they'd hound me over the Tacoma. They can pry it from my cold dead hands.

Now that it's a trail truck and getting more and more beat up, scratched, flaking clear coat, etc... I doubt they'd be as eager to buy it, which is fine by me anyway.

I had an 86 4Runner. Great truck, still miss it actually. But had to sell on the account of my wife (GF at the time) refusing to ride in it and calling it "Christine" because the motor blew (300+k miles) right when she needed it for a job interview.

had I known that 22yrs ago i would've maybe kept my shiny near-perfect body (had some dings) '95 preTacoma bright blue metallic 4cyl single cab (no A/C no cruise), did have a cassette tape deck and rear sliding window, had to trade it in for this beast of tacoma

not actual truck i had for a couple years, but very close
wonder where its at now, if I happen to stumble upon the VIN somewhereabouts I shall look into it!

Those really old Fords are vintage though. People buy them for the same reason they buy WWII Jeeps or the tailfinned landships of the 1950s: they start as restoration projects and eventually turn into garage queens. Fun toys to play with, but not daily drivers.

The people who buy Tacos want to actually drive them. They're still treated like working trucks.

The truck in this pic is not a Tacoma. It is a 6th gen Toyota. I have had two of these a 92 and 94 and wish I still had them.

It's all good. I just know some young folks that call all Toyota pick ups Taco's. I grew up calling them Yota's. In 95 they changed things and created the Taco. I like them all.

It's like when people keep trying to call the pre-Tacomas a Hilux.

People want them to have a name, but pre-95.5's are just "pickups".

I like a 4runner but it is not a truck. A truck has a bed. SUV
