In case you are curious why Toyota used a front cab mount that is so big...

It's not really the same. The entire front of your car is designed to crumple to reduce the amount of G-forces your body sees. Making the front of your car more rigid doesn't make you safer, it means your vehicle isn't absorbing impact and its being transferred directly to the passengers. Y ou might not be Lieutenant Dan, but you'll be a Simple Jack. Feel me?

It doesn’t have to absorb it if you bounce off like that FJ did
My plan is to use the other cars crumble zones
I get what your saying though. Mine is an offroad only vehicle not a daily driver.

So what youre saying is I should have got the 2" wheels spacer instead of the 1.25. wheel will go out instead of in. Lol

I still have my unaltered can mounts. I like a good rub job.:D

Just posted this over on archives post as well. I don't disagree with any of the logic here on the purpose of the cab mount but there are may to many other factors that most people with a CMC have going on with their truck that will influence results in a crash.

The safety measure seems much more applicable to stock trucks with stock geometry (most of which aren't doing CMCs). With the combination of setups most people on here have, some sort of lift, +3.5" long travel kit and wheels with more offset, +2 long travel kit with aftermarket wheels, stock suspension with wheel spacers, etc. the tires are already being pushed out further and not even lining up with the cab mount like stock tires and wheel offset would. On my truck, if the wheels are straight the cab mount lines up with maybe 3" of tire.

Then there are rock sliders to consider. Depending on where your sliders extend to in the front, they may also be in that path helping to deflect impacts. Then again if your sliders aren't built well they could be getting shoved into the cab and crushing your legs.

Arguably this all started with stricter seat belt laws. If I'm not in the cab during the crash, I don't have to worry about my legs getting crushed!

When my legs are gon my 35s will still get me where I need to go.

Just enough to look kinda cool.
Don't have to worry about wheel intrusion if you don't crash :anonymous:

CMC should come with a “seat belt delete”, y’know, for safety.

Literally the easiest mod you can do to your truck all you need is something sharp!
