I wish I had taken more pictures but I didn't expect it to come out too well, was really just testing the waters to see if I liked the style lol. Picked up a 4'x2' sheet of 1/2" #13 expanded steel from my local metal supplier for $16, traced the interior of the outer grille surround (the body-colored piece) onto it, then simply cut and bent it to fit the bezel. Toughest part was cutting it around the clips. Once that was done, I used a light epoxy to hold it to the backside of the bezel while I confirmed the fitment was tight when everything was clipped back together. I finished it up with some gorilla glue brand epoxy, not as "bulletproof" as I'd like but it seems to hold it strong enough, and with the steel being sandwiched between the outer and inner grille pieces I don't see it going anywhere any time soon.

Thanks man!! I regretted not getting the tech package w/ the leather and heat for my taco but hey, I'm getting to it lol. The closest to OEM I can get. How do you feel about the OEM leather? I have to say I was very disappointed with the factory cloth, mine started fraying within 6 months of use and dirtied easily. I am very anal about my stuff, especially my vehicles. So disappointed to say the least! Not a huge deal by any means, just something I feel they skimped on.

Yes...it’s common. It happened to me two times with my Tundra. Spent around $1,600 between the two incidents. Lots of tips and tricks out there to keep them out of your vehicle. But first thing is make sure you don’t leave food, crumbs, old french fries, etc. in your vehicle. Keep it clean. Don’t park near bird feeders, dog food bowl, or any concentrated food source. If you see evidence or otherwise suspect they are coming back, put a snap trap baited with some peanut butter on the floor. I also spray peppermint oil in the engine block periodically, especially around wires. Can’t say if it works because you can’t prove a negative. But I haven’t had any issues with my Tacoma (yet). Although I’m constantly worried about it.

Thanks man! Sorry to hear they got you twice; Damn! First thing I did was remove a pile of tree trimmings that was left near the truck (good nesting material). Pretty sure that was a major contributor. Think I'll try the peppermint oil and maybe one of those noise makers you can hook up to the battery to drive them away. Gonna have to change my deductible after this! Little more on the premium but worth it considering I found out yesterday the insurance company already paid their $925 portion and I have to settle up the deductible to the dealership - $1K :spending:

Thanks! I'll check it out. I guess one of the good things is I only allow drinking water inside my truck; has never been eaten in.

I should have mentioned that I use the ultrasonic noise makers. I basically use the “all of the above” strategy.

When I was researching Tacomas before my purchase, I came across a website that provided data from some database of the most common mechanical problems for all make, model and year of vehicles. For Tacoma’s and Tundras, “electrical - rodent damage” was the most frequently cited problem. I thought that was odd, so I did some more research and discovered that there were class action law suits filed against Honda and Toyota for this issue. Apparently they both use wire insulation that is made from a soy based product that rodents like to chew. FWIW, the law suits were dismissed. You can purchase some fairly expensive rodent-repelling electrical tape to re-wrap your wires, which might help (that’s the one thing I haven’t tried). However, both of the times mice got my Tundra, it was in areas I doubt I would have been able to access to wrap wires, so it wouldn’t have helped anyway.

Added a sub/amp to the stock stereo system. Very easy install and makes the stereo 100% better for fairly cheap. Sounds better than my buddy’s JBL system and a much cheaper option. Also plug N play
