What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

God damn your truck is so sexy

 

I upgraded from one Toyota head unit to another so basically no upgrade. The sound is much more clear and crisp. Bass is deeper and mids sound much better. It's no louder though. I'll have to amp them if I want volume.

 

Kool. What speakers did you go w/? I just pulled my Xfinity reference speakers from my s10 this past weekend & gonna put them in my tacoma here soon. Factory speakers are starting to get crackling sound to them.

 

Powerbass. I went with the recommendation from crutchfield.

 

What really helped me out was buying a scanguage 2. It will read real time mpg and it helped me adjust the way I drive the truck. When I first bought the truck I was getting 15-16, installed the scan guage and went up to 18. Then I added the bigger nonsense tires lol went back down to 16.

Just recharged my AC with one of those overpriced AC Pro cans from the autoparts store. Went from decently cold last fall to nothing but some weird noises this spring.. Wanted to have it done professionally, but dont have time before the trip this weekend.

Hoping theres no leak, but we'll see. With the compressor running and my buddy holding the RPMs around 2k I added the stuff in small bursts until the gauge said ~25psi (compressor on). When the compressor turns off pressure went up to 45-50psi, so I feel pretty good about it. Now we wait to see if it stays cold!

 

Since the privacy glass does basically zero for heat reduction, I decided to tint my rear windows and back glass with 35% ceramic to help blend with my 20% fronts. Turned out pretty good I think.

Just got a new Kenwood KDC-X303 radio installed complete with SiriusXM to replace the old factory unit that seemed to be on it's last legs.

 

Changed oil and filter.
Pennzoil plat 5-30 & Toyota filter.

Tossed this got new OEM and coated with bed liner

 

Changed UCA's this morning with some 3rd gen take offs with about 17k miles. The ball joints on the old ones were replaced in Nov. The boots were ripped and the ball was already loose in the socket.
The bolt on the driver side was hitting a bracket below the battery. I used my pry bar to lift the inner fender and rad core support to clear. Once out I jacked the core support and flipped the rubber bushings over to tighten it up. This is only a temporary fix that I will be fixing correctly.
