I do the same with a Keilty tarp, strap it to the slider kickout or wheel. Its great to have the windows open in the summer rain, or snow winter.

Before getting the Keilty tarp, it's more of a rain fly like material. 100%water proof, and easy on the paint.

What night were you there Fred?

The Mrs and I had the spot just a turn down the hill from you on the night of 12 May.

Camping out in Coconino National Forest for a couple days before Overland Expo West 2019. It was our first time visiting this area and our first time attending the expo. The first set of pictures are from Thursday morning. We set up camp there Wednesday evening after checking out the Overland Expo Gear & Beer event in Downtown Flagstaff.
    IMG_6443.jpg IMG_6446.jpg IMG_6451.jpg IMG_6441.jpg IMG_6442.jpg IMG_6445.jpg IMG_6448.jpg IMG_6450.jpg IMG_6449.jpg IMG_6444.jpg

This second set is on Friday morning, just before we headed out to the expo. We met a new friend and his 4yrs. old son the day prior at the KC HiLites mixer in Williams, AZ. There were supposed to be three parties in our group w/ our respective rigs camping out together for Thursday evening, but our other friends couldn't get to Flagstaff until Friday morning due to their work schedule. We just rallied up at the Overland Expo event parking in Ft. Tuthill that Friday morning.
    IMG_6497.jpg IMG_6498.jpg IMG_6512.jpg

The expo camping seemed very crowded, so I'm glad we went out to explore in the local forest there to get a little more overlander in our car camping/vehicular camping. However, onsite parking got a little out of hand and their parking staff had to regroup while we waited in a line of what was probably over 75 rigs. Someone ahead of us was so upset, I think, that they wouldn't let an Uber pass to drop off her passengers at the entrance to the expo. So, they just got out on that road we were stuck on and the Uber had to reverse all the way back to the end of the line to get outa that mess.

I have dreams about our Utah trip last Sept. as well. On the north of Medicine Hat, Valley of the Gods. We will be going back. It was exactly what I imagined when I wanted to take my truck camping. Just us...didn't see another person until morning, and they were just passing through on the road. Not even close enough to tell if they saw our camp.

Yeah, just missed each other then. The Mrs and I ended up heading out Beef Basin Rd about 17 miles to spend a night, then Lockhart Basin, then to Montrose and Ouray CO. Beautiful places out there in Utah though. Cant wait to go back.

Been reading @turbodb 2 week Grand Canyon/Bears Ears trip report and may try to do the first part of that in late Sep.

I leave this last pic and head back over to Tundras.com where I belong o_O

Is that the softopper tent attachment they sell on their website? If so how do you like it, any points of concern about attachment points rubbing paint?

It is the old model KBvoodoo bed rack with the tonneau brackets. The tonneau is the extang solid fold 2.0

Not a huge fan of the bed rack because it rusts, but I paid $200 for it so I can't really complain. Plus I take everything off the truck when not in use.

    Better picture of the rack

Sounds awesome! Have to look in to that.
Not speaking for the OP, but being a explorer/camper and sharing is caring, I think you fit right in! Don’t be a stranger, you’ve already got me doing homework and I believe that’s the OP’s intension!
It just happens to fall in the Taco 3rd gen Area.
    Happy trails!

Other than the rust, hows it been holding up?

Yes it is. I love it. It does rub the paint near the back of the bed. So I use a microfiber towel as a barrier to prevent scratches.9281E976-E8FA-4B69-A59A-7DA68B3A63D3.jpg

No complaints other than the rusting. But I will say that I don't think I would pay the $750 plus dollars for it.
