Great thinking! @BartMaster1234 Pop that SC belt off and see if the starter cranks it over any faster.

Hard to hydrolock an engine if it doesn't first ingest non-compressible fluids. His airbox was spotless & dry, as was the filter. Something else caused that engine to grenade IMO.

I'm not doubting that somehow, someway, water had maybe gotten into the crankcase. But it didn't drink the Hollister kool-aid, not through the intake anyway. Since it ran all the way through, it didn't backflow up the tailpipe either. My $0.02 guess is he did damage to the engine on the incline where it was smoking, and probably starved a bearing for oil and that caught up to him later when he had the drivetrain stressed/weighed down with his trailer and what-not.

Bottom line though: Even if there was water in the crankcase, that's his own damn fault for not checking his fluid levels and conditions before hooking up a trailer and setting off for a 2k mile journey.

We're talking about a douche that went and quit his job with the responsibilities associated with a wife and new born child... and we're supposed to believe none of this is his fault... when 99% of us have watched multiple rigs (not to mention, some of us HAVE DONE) do exactly what he SAYS he did (with no issues). And that his truck took a shit because Toyota Engineers don't know how to make an off road truck?

Funny they say he hydroed the motor but for those of us who have done them repeatedly and weren't able to drive them down the highway I don't believe this guy.

I bet there was a leak in the oil pan and water got into it. Only thing I can really think that would have happened at 10" of water. Never admit to going through water/mud.

That water got pretty deep after all the rain this year. I didn't read the website story, but it's definitely possible to hydrolock there. It was up to the top of my hood last time I went in December, but I did the ghetto snorkel mod and relocated my diff breather

Oil or coolant can cause that too. And though his picture shows him splashing water up the sides, I would think the air filter should keep most of the water out of the motor. So unless he submerged it and isn’t saying, I doubt it was Hollister that caused his problem. Not saying it didn’t, just unlikely.

I’d find a good third party adjuster if he really thinks it’s not his fault.
