Was waiting on a rack to be priced sub $600, and with the coupon code, can't pass it up...honestly think it looks better than the Prinsu as well.

A hammock tied to the side of a rack? Any aluminum rack built like the Prinsu, including the Victory rack, would bend from that the same way also.

Lots of good looking roof racks out there but grossly overpriced. You are only really paying for the side plate and the design.

Does anyone with a Victory rack know exactly how wide it is? I know the Prinsu is 47" but the Rocky Mountain Racks roof rack that I have is 48". I am trying to find a fairing replacement and I'm hoping the Victory fairing might be wide enough for my rack.

    A hint:

If you want to prototype something, that might actually sell, come up with a single, aerodynamic, low profile front bar (or set of two bars) that uses the factory roof mounts. That’s what I want. I don’t want a full cab roof rack as I have a canopy with a rhino rack on it, but need a single front bar if I put a canoe up there to keep the canoe off the cab. I think that is the one product missing from the aftermarket. I know several people with the same dilemma. It could also serve as a mount for brow (bro) lighting.

At present there is only the huge OEM plastic version, and others that clip to the door jams (Aeroblades etc). Really nothing out there for selection using the factory mounts.

Are you saying using the factory roof rack rails? Or a stand alone bar?

Make your own! I designed a rack to go on top of my ARE MX Shell that matches my Prinsu cabrack because nobody made one that would fit on that particular shell. I used emachineshop.com to do it, they have their own free CAD program that you download and play with, and then use it to pick your materials, price it and order it online for them to make it for you. The two sides for my rack cost under $200, and I added three of the same 47-inch extruded aluminum bars Prinsu uses to it to finish it off from Tnutz.com. Total price was about $300 for my rack.

The E Machine shop CAD file I made for this is here if anyone wants to DIY rheir own rack: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/my-cad-file-for-a-custom-are-mx-rack.661477/#post-23146358

It’s really easy to do, just take good measurements of your truck and buy the hardware you want to use to mount it first so you can design the holes at appropriate sizes and spaces for the laser cutter to do it instead of trying to drill them later. If you were going to try to bend the aluminum like the feet of a Prinsu rack has, make sure to talk to the technicians at the shop to see what the best way to bend it would be. There’s different types of aluminum for that as well, and they may even be able to bend it for you.

The Toyota cab, as you know, has mounting holes under those weather strips on the roof.

What is missing from the market (in my observation) is many aftermarket bar systems that are not a full cab roof rack, that mount to those OEM fittings. One bar in front and one bar in back.

Toyota makes their OEM dual-bar set up, which some guys like and some don’t. I find it a bit on the ugly side.

A guy like me, who just wants one bar, over the front of the cab, to support a canoe sitting on the rack already fitted to my shell is mostly out of luck (Rhino may be introducing a Toyota specific cab option this year)

I could use a Prinsu, or your Victory rack to solve my dilemma, but I want something simpler, and not as heavy or noisy as a full roof rack. I just want a simple, robust bar system. One bar only in my case.

Another idea is the single front bar (which could be part of a set of two) could be used or intended as a light mount as well.

There are aftermarket options for roof bars out there, but disappointingly many rely on those stupid door-jam clamps that are unnecessary on a Tacoma, which has the OEM mounting locations built right into the roof.

    Hopefully this makes sense.

vvv Note door-jam clamps (no thanks):

The prices have also markedly increased in the past few years. And not really along the time frame of all the steel/aluminum levies either (which for Mexico and Canada were just lifted this month). I doubt those prices will come back down either even if raw material gets cheaper.

I remember a Baja Rack used to cost somewhere around $550. Now their cheapest option is $790 for a Tacoma.

Woot! Literally had this rack in my cart with the 5% code I found on here from weeks back. Too good of a deal to pass up. Can't wait to get mine.
