Couldn't you just sand , apply the tint and clearcoat? Why did you sand the clearcoat and then used the rubbinh compound ? Thanks

10-4, so just sand it down after the clearcoat then apply rubbing compound then wax and it should be good or do I need to hit it with the clear again ?

 

Nope, you shouldnt have to hit it with clear again. You will see the shine come back after a little elbow grease once you apply the rubbing compound at wax.

 

Just don't rub too hard and go through to the clear to the actual tint or you will have to redo them both to match tint levels

that's why I recommend 5 to 6 coats of clear.

I'm guessing it's a really bad idea to clean a freshly cleared paint job with mineral spirits?
I had just finished the final polishing of the clear when I wiped it down with mineral spirits and once it started to dry the entire clear coat turned cloudy white. I tried sanding down the top layer of clear to see if it was just the surface that had hazed over, but no luck. I spent the next 2 hours sanding the lights back down to plastic.

Should I just use normal dish soap next time? I'm starting to question whether it was the mineral spirits that did it or maybe I did something wrong when applying the clear. I did a quick buff dry before applying the MS, so I'm not 100% sure it wouldn't have started clouding over without the MS.
