Yes, it goes away when switch to 4Hi. Thanks for the info. I took it to the dealer with the TSB for the Needle Bearing. They said they didn't hear nor feel anything abnormal
I guess its not severe enough yet for them to detect. For me, as the daily driver, is very obvious. I'm going to keep an eye/ear on it for now and take it back if it gets worse. For the time being, considering both the service manager and tech feel there is nothing wrong, I guess I am good to keep driving. I have a 1500km road trip coming up and perhaps was just being too pro-active. What do you think?

Replace it with the ecgs bushing, not with a new needle bearing. Mine has been going strong for 60k

Thanks for the reply. Yes I'm familiar with the ECGS part as being a better option.

Edit: The noise just started in the past week. I take it there is no urgency to replace, perhaps it can wait a month or so?

Did you ever end up replacing your needle bearing? If so, did it resolve the problem? I'm having the exact same issue currently

Yes - A dealer changed the needle bearing using the TSB provided by Toyota and the issue has not returned. As some have pointed out the after market bushing is also an option. Good Luck!
