Just had quite a humbling day, and not in the vain instagram kind of way like "oh em gee so humbled my natures majesty"

The kind that reminds you that the more you know, the more you know you don't know. At least I learned some. And I can move forward with a clearer self awareness with where I'm at in my field, and how I can continue to improve.

But first I need a damn drink. :burp:

Well now. I think we all need to know more about what this vague post is about...?

    Nothing like that.

It's not as intriguing as my vagueness implies, work related and gets into very technical photo stuff that I couldn't easily explain and make sense to anyone.

The short of it is I thought I had a good grasp on setup and workflow for digital reproduction photography and a thing called FADGI (Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative), which is to say basically photographing art and objects of "cultural heritage" in a way to objectively represent them as accurately as current technology allows.

But so today I got some consultation with someone who really, really, very much actually knows their shit. They weren't a dick about it or anything, but they were just a pretty intense person, and it kind of put me in my place. In the end it's still a good thing, I can grow into a better photographer, but it didn't feel good, and still doesn't really.

I didn’t rebuild anything, per say. I just media blasted it and repainted it plus cleaned it. I also ported and polished the intake manifold.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

You sure you got all the media cleaned off and out of all the internals, bearings, etc?

The only thing that could have gotten in there is the flaking Teflon that was coming off the rotors. I didn’t bother replacing it since I know the Meth injection will strip it.

Was at a stoplight in right lane, guy behind me thought I had already made the turn, was looking left at oncoming traffic to make the same right turn, didn’t even look right to see if it was clear and went straight into the back of the truck. No brakes. Other dudes car left on a flat bed.

Edit: Pretty sure the dude was definitely gonna blow the light cause he was easily going 25mph

Sometimes growth can be painful. But there is nothing better than honing your skills and bettering yourself from a lesson learned.

I know this feeling very well. I'm not into photography but in my field I currently have a great mentor. I learn from him almost daily.

I hate assholes who dont stop. It's like the white stop line doesn't even exist. They come in hot and hope its clear. Higher end car drivers seem to be worse but not by much.

I could've sworn your rig was white the last time I saw it...

No serious neck issues? Sucks about the truck...:annoyed: Hopefully insurance resolves it quickly and to your satisfaction.

Who's this? Badass rig, I saw it at Lowe's in Redding the other day.IMG_20190521_141756.jpg
Also, if anyone lives in the Redding area, we're going to Woody's Brewing Co. this Saturday around 5 pm. Feel free to join us! We've been on the Chico/Redding Area B.S. thread.
