So I hit 69,997 miles on my '17 today. I took it in to the dealership for the oil change and asked when they recommend the AT (automatic transmission) service. He asked the mileage, told em 70K, he then said I was right on the money. I left it there for the oil change and the AT service. How likely is it that they fucked up?

I just picked it up. Paid $340

Are you thinking that’s too high or too low?

    Sounds right to me.

1 hour of labour 4 liters of WS ATF and a 0w20 syn oil change. 340$ sounds bang on.

Be glad you have a Toyota lol it could be way worse.

I mean, I usually pay $80-90 for the oil change. I guess paying that every 70K miles isnt bad at all. I just hope they did it right. I hear all these stories about people getting their trucks screwed up at the dealership.

edit: they wrote down 1.5 hours of labor.

I would say an hour and a half is fair. Where I live, for an AT flush and oil change, with OEM fluids, that sound a little cheaper than I would expect.

Did they drop the AT pan and change the filter or just the fluid?

Most people have paid that and a tow bill when deciding to do an oil change that went wrong. Honey i've been watching Motor Trend all day I think i'm going to change my oil. Ok dear, proceeds to pull the wrong plug, take he rage out on the wife, the dog, sheet rock, ends up on Live PD

My A3 transmission fluid service cost around $450 so that sounds about right.

Not all dealers are full of monkeys.

Most complaints need to be taken with a grain of salt. A lot like Yelp reviews, the negative ones are rarely 100% true.

I go to dealers and talk to folks that work there to get a feel for how likely the dealer is to take care of the purchasing customer.

You are more likely to have issues with Walmart auto care or Firestone than a dealer.

Just my experience with dealers of all types.

What was included in the transmission service? A DIY transmission drain and fill costs me about $24 in parts. 4 quarts of Valvoline MaxLife from Walmart and 2 crush washers.

    I agree.
add to that, a lot of people leaving negative reviews, that think they know, but don't know. People read shit on the internet, and bring their vehicle in, because someone told them they're entitled to XYZ.

Don’t see how preventive maintenance is a fuck up on his part, rather do it sooner than later.

Sitin on the side of the trail or road in the middle of summer or winter for hours on end ain’t fun.

That price was oil change (parts and labor) and transmission (parts and labor)

I used to, raced a CBR929 for a few years, crashed it in the canyon roads in CA and replaced it with a 2007 R1.....built it for racing, tested it twice and then had to give up racing.

Gixerkiller is a loose title from my old customers since every bike I built needed to be a “gixerkiller” after all the GSXR 1000 was the bike to beat up to 04.

Where did the dealership get that number from? That's not a number from Toyota, not even if you fall under the "special operating conditions category".
