Built em outta pine. I used a c clamps on pieces of flat iron for about 5 days if I remember right to make sure they stayed true.

Old trick my grand daddy taught me was to soak the wood with a wet rag. They put em in the clamps or a a home made jig. Take a wet clothes and use and clothes iron over top the cloth into the wood. Not only will it raise the grain it will force the wood to go straight with the jigs.

Let it dry a few days then stain. It will stay true and never warp again.

My toilet is starting to leak in the main bathroom...I may just gut the whole damn bathroom and renovate it...been on my mind the last few months. Figure I can do it under $2k in materials as long as I keep the current old cast iron tub that's already there and the vanity which was replaced before we bought the place.

My house story became the greatest mother-in-law story ever I don't know if I've shared it with many of you but my mother-in-law got her realtors license and sold us our house and told me it had a home inspection that passed and she showed me a letter with a letterhead of a company that does home inspections so I took her word for it when she said that there was a home inspectionhowever when I found the rotten floor in the bathroom the kitchen and the pantry and the rotten walls in the kitchen and pantry are confronted the home inspection company and they stated they never did a home inspection and the loan that I had did not require a home inspection from the bank so it was never investigated. So now I have replaced all of the subfloor the floor joist interior walls and the roof where it was leaking.there was a repair where someone put tub and tile silicone on the roof inn sandwich shingles. Leaked before that was their " repair"

Oh I was most definitely not happy I showed my tail from the inspector letter and he told me that all he did was do a moisture check in the living room and that that's all he did but he is a home inspection company but did not do a home inspection on the house. Needless to say there's not much I have to say to her mom. It has definitely made me mad but I can't say anything because my wife likes to keep the peace so I just Grand smile and empty my pockets every month to pay for the mistake now

I definitely learned the hard way the other part that sucks is I signed the contract she made it so ironclad that I couldn't get out of it no matter what anyway I laughed about that little did I know a year down the road that I would be in the worst situation

Bullshit you couldn't get out of it. She made knowingly false statements about the inspection. I have no doubt there are statutory penalties for that on top of the financial damage that lie caused you.
People get their mortgage settled because of BS inspections. She knowingly and I would add maliciously represented a document falsely to influence your decision to contract with her. Contract is null and void.

Completely understand your predicament though. Mother n law BS is the worst

Last time the BBQ competition was fun. However, it necessitated the transport of a lot of smoking equipment and made things generally hard to manage with a lot of busy work. This year, I believe we'll be building a large bbq pit where we can grill massive amounts of fireman's chicken over hardwood and whatever else we want. This will cut down a lot of extra work on everyone's part and everyone can travel lighter.

We learned a lot of lessons from the 1st annual, we'll nail it with the 2nd. Also, this will be football season so we'll have a game on in the brewery and maybe get the big projector out.

I've never had to do that. I just used well seasoned wood that I check with a moisture meter. Once they reach >25% it's time to build. Also using joiners and planers get the warp out. I always start with slabs larger than needed to be able to plane down to finished size.

Why would you want to raise the grain?
