    Californians . . .

I already had an informed opinion by here:

"Around this time last year, my wife and I decided to go on an epic three-month road trip across the western US with our new baby. . . . I quit my job, we started packing up everything we owned and began to think about what we were going to drive."

I'd just like to add that the highly praised Ural couldn't make it up this little incline without a rope tow:

    imagejpeg_0_01.jpg

    imagejpeg_0_02.jpg

I was either smoking the clutch fully engaged, the wheels were slipping, or it would stall.

The Taco climbed similar grades with zero drama:

    #neverbuyaural

I'm offended that he lumps all Tacomas together....never once had an issue wading through water past my doors (even before the snorkel) or going up butt puckering hill climbs in my 2004.

    Thanks!

It was a fun experience, other than constant wrenching. There have been a few days when I miss it, esp the worse the weather gets, but the Taco is the answer that I needed. Now, I just need an enduro (and another garage bay).

Well, my Manny tranny kept my truck from being stolen. After my apartment was broken into and my keys stolen, I found them outside.. .i the truck... in the ignition... and my truck had not moved. Now, it helped that my apartment was broken into by kids, but they could probably have figured out how to drive an automatic. But my truck? I doubt they could even get it started.

Hooray for the Millenial anti-theft device!

Yeah, it was a bit of a relief when my truck was still there. I don't find the braking is that bad, but you just have a few more quirks than with an automatic.

Nah! I meant your apartment getting broken into!

I think the Taco brakes are just fine.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Gave a pistol grip shifter ive had sitting in the garage for 3 years it’s maiden voyage. It’s like driving an 18 wheeler but feels good when pulling back into a gear.83A031CA-FA1C-4179-AB6D-552D8C64B42F.jpg

HAHA, totally mis-read that. Yeah, it sucked. Luckily everything was retrieved. Unfortunately, when the people who did it are all under 10 and cannot legally be charged, it makes for any angry day.

Under 10? Please tell me the parents are outraged and not beyond whipping out the paddle.

    Little fuckers.

You gotta be happy that they didn't get it moving because that was destined to be a big, old wreck.

yeah... where I live, kids run around at 0400 and break things for fun with little to no consequences from their parents. As far as the possibility of a wrecked vehicle, very lucky, because there have been more than a few cars here that get stolen, joy-ridden, crashed, and abandoned with significant damages.

Working on it.. but I am posted here with work, and didn't have a choice if I wanted the job... plus, I knew nothing about the place when I moved.

I love it! Not the break in, that sucks sorry to hear.
But gotta love how lazy things are getting.
Even being in my late 30s, whenever friends ask to drive my truck I say yeah. But then the reaction when they don't even know how to start it is priceless.

The R transmission is incredible. And if I ditched the Tacoma it would probably be for a sportswagen. They're like the outback used to be, perfect compromise and incredible and.
